Hello all,

I just wanted to show my Christmas gift to myself. It arrived a couple of days ago.

I was really surprised that it still worked. Someone had taken very good care of it, even after all this time it still kept pretty good time.

read through your blog entry -

With only 3 years between the patent on the manufacture of the case, and the start of manufacture for the movements, it's very possible that this is still the original case for this watch (ie. it could be a new manufactured case in 1888, using the older pattern) - depending on when it was ordered, and what the watchmaker had in stock.

Nice looking watch. I love early walthams.
Catapultam habeo. Nisi pecuniam omnem mihi dabis, ad caput tuum saxum immane mittam.
(Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes. But deserve a nice glass of absinthe. I have some Montemarte in the cabinet, if you wish.)

If the case is less than 5 years different in date from the movement, its generally considered  that its likely the original case.
Nice Waltham, great Christmas gift..
