Dr. Hastings

so sorry about the late entrance! I had other arrangements with a friend. Terribly sorry

Here's the next story, called dog, it's shorter, but, I'm hoping still good.

Spoiler: ShowHide
Once, long ago, there was a child.

Living in the big city, she had no friends,

Everyone was to busy to play.

So she played alone.

Out in a back alley one day

She hear a bark

She had stumbled across a stray dog.

Overjoyed, she played with the dog till she could not run any further.

But the dog still wanted to play

She rested for a while, then ran home with the dog.

Trying to let her parents keep him they said they had no room,

and the dog had to go.

The child, crying, had to shoo the dog away into the cold streets.

But instead, glancing backwards, told him to hide under the porch, and wait for her.

As time went on, the plan worked, the dog would wait, the girl would come, and they played.

But as all things do, the child turned into a lady, and couldn't play anymore

the dog would wait days, weeks, and eventually months for the child, but she never came.

One day, the lady walked down to the porch, and looked for the dog, but it was gone.

Saddened, she walked to where they first met, and found the dog.

Lying there, dead.

And the lady cried for the loss of her first friend.

but she had grown, and made other friends, and met her first love.

And quickly moved on.

But she found she couldn't relate to people very well.

She left first love, and isolated herself from her friends.

And she grew older, and lonelier, but lost all contact with people all together.

And she started to hear the dog's bark again, each time her heart longed for the days way back then.

Somedays she would see the dog, and sadness would overwelm her, as it would run away from her.

Soon after that, the child, now an old lady, left her house, and moved next to the ice cream parlour.

She never left her house after that.

and one day, because she had left weeks of unopened milk bottles on the porch, the police entered the home

only to find her dead on the floor, holding a chew toy and a collar.

No one ever moved into that home again.
