Hello?

Anyone home?

I am assuming by 'Oceania' they are including the Antipodes?

Oh well - maduncle here, just dropping by to say good day and leave my calling card

www.austeampunk.blogspot.com

Feel free to do the same, I need more Antipodean links.

Following in the wake of Mr. MadUncle I shall leave my calling card as well.

For anyone interested in my art/ illustration

And for those who aren't afraid of those furry type you can see some of my other work at

Rowan of Rin

One day I shall make my mark on the internet, but as of yet, I have no calling card.

There are plenty of meet-ups and Steampunk events all around the Antipodes, I shall move the relevant threads into this section soon, so they are easier to find.
I'm as mad as I am, but no madder!
Live in Victoria? Check out the Victoria Meet Up Thread!

Well! This *is* exciting! Our very own section of Brass Goggles!

I shall add my name to the illustrious roll of antipodean steampunks!

I'm Omega.

I work as a DJ and an MC for events - I DJ'd at Euchronia and the steampunk themed Continuum convention (and was invited to speak on their steampunk fashion panel as well)

I run steampunk themed events of my own in Melbourne under the name Steampunkerie , and I also have a blog at www.steampunkerie.com that collects things of interest to those of the steampunk persuasion.

I run the Melbourne Alternative Crafters meetup which brings all manner of makers together.. http://www.meetup.com/MelbourneAltCrafters/

I run the steampunk livejournal communities for Australia and for Melbourne,
http://community.livejournal.com/aus_steampunk/ and
http://community.livejournal.com/melbournesteam/ respectively..

I also run a facebook group for Australian Steampunks too: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5622194589&ref=ts though more activity seems to be happening on the Steampunkerie fan page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Steampunkerie/

I'm always keen to get involved in events happening, and I am prepared to travel - so if you need a DJ, MC or a panel speaker, or someone to help out on the event organising or marketing side of things.. keep me in mind!

Hello again.

Now, whilst at Camberwell Market this morning (buying cheap genuine 19th Century silk collapsible top hats) we three gents (as above) were discussing the idea of a 'Mad Hatters tea party' for the opening screening of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.

Hallward is going to investigate the opportunity to gain access to the opening via contacts he has at ACMII where a tim Burton exhibition is to be held to coincide with the movie (including a visit from Mr. Burton).

Interested???

Hallward

Hmmmmm upon further inspection it seems the Tim Burton exhibition isn't going to be out here til June. Where as the movie opens in March.

And Omega, your  involvement in outgoingness is remarkable and inspiring and also reminds me to check livejournal more frequently.

OmegaMorningstar

Well.. no reason we can't do both! :)

When I was involved in re-enacting in Qld, we'd quite often get gigs on opening night when new movies came out - go along in costume and muck around with the people waiting in line and then see the movie for free..

Who's got a contact in the movie theatre business then? :)

(Oh.. and.. BAGS RED QUEEN!!  :P)

then we just have to work an angle for the ACMI thing...  :D

(it occurs to me we are derailing the roll call thread.. should we be discussing this in another thread?)

Correct!

Let us retire to the 'Melbourne meet up/market' thread to discuss dressing up and throwing a tea party for the Alice in Wonderland movie and return this thread to the status of Roll Call.

Welcome aboard - and there are plenty of other Sydney Steampunkers, they even went for a cruise on the harbour on an old steam vessel recently!

And now that I've returned to find a whole new section dedicated to us I've no website or new photos prepared :( But Hello again everyone.

Robo Von Bismark

Blimey, you go away for a while and they move everything on you

Mr Quartermaine

Hello everyone.
Your local vandemonian reporting. (waits for the two headed jokes)
I can imagine a land without war or violence, a land of peace.

And then I can see us attacking that land because they would never expect it!

Robert Le Mal

Ladies, Gentlemen etc

just found this and am very pleased so many people have found it already.

Robert Le Mal, shootist, musician and occassional Gonzo scientist. We are running an event in May called Steampump (details in a separate thread) and I'm definately interested in other events before then because May is so far away on the horizon.

Best regards

Robert

I'd be happy if I could "show off" like that, well done.

Great article, and a great representation of Steampunk! I will have to check out that blog, it looks supremely interesting.

A great article indeed. Eagerly awaiting part two.

If you are visiting my 'show off' blog on the Powerhouse Museum site - please post a comment on the blog along the lines of

'gosh - wouldn't it be lovely if the museum hosted an exhibition of steampunk art and design?'

or

'goodness - why not get that maduncle chap to curate a real exhibition of steampunk art and design at the museum?'

or

'golly - that maduncle gentleman is rather dashing, is he taken?'

(I have more...)
