"I want to see more girl monsters. Girl giants, girl dragons, hulks & trolls.
Scylla and hydra. Girl monsters who are huge and whole. Teeth and plush
fur and long muscled tails. Heads enough to see you anywhere. Gleaming
green or brown. But girl monsters are usually zombies or vampires. Pale
and thin, bleeding or dead. Not Lady Lazarus, not a phoenix from the ash. I
want to see how you get strong without being broken first. Get strong and
stay strong. Get big and bigger." (x)

San Jose, California here!

I'm the quartermaster for the St. Claire Aeronauts. There is quite a lot of steampunk activity in the bay area, so I'm hoping more of us will chime in so we can get better acquainted.

Gene Forrer (who was a panelist at Nova Albion) lives in San Jose and is interested in starting a meetup group in the South Bay area.  There is a topic discussion started on the Sacramento Steampunk Society google group: http://groups.google.com/group/steampunk-sacramento

We would also be glad to have you attend our special events.

Aha! I knew there had to be some more out here. I'm literally a 20 minutes from Memphis, in a medium-sized suburb.
"Won't you come back again? I miss the sound of footsteps as we danced amidst the stars and the light of a dawn approaching too quickly reflected in our eyes."

I'm just outside East Memphis, I believe. I've sent you a PM, if you'll forgive the presumptuousness.

I was starting to feel lonely, out here.
