For those in the Nottingham area may I recommend the monthly Steaming Sundays at the Industrial Museum at Wollaton Hall in Nottingham. It is a most interesting venue with many fine steam powered machines and located in the fine grounds of Wollaton Hall. http://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=2562    I must admit I did rather promise to promote their museum which is in danger of further council cuts closing it entirely.

I reside in Cambridgeshire myself but I do enjoy the odd weekend in Nottingham and would love to re-visit that museum in the company of fellow steamy enthusiasts.

I was in Colchester at the weekend, my Dad's side of the family come from there. It's a lovely old town, and near the sea (in land locked Derbyshire, I don't get to see it as often as i like...)

We definatly should!! There are some really nice pubs in colchester (free of the "usual" sort...) and some really nice places as well... But if you were to go the pub route I would be unable to attend until september (Still 17 blast it...) but it sounds like a briliant idea! I can imagine Steampunkers arrive en masse to the castle for a day and worrying everybody!

I currently reside in the wilds of south London, and can usually be found forcing books on the unwilling public at wonderful establishment on Charing Cross Road.

I'm very new to steampunk as a community, but I seem to have been inadvertently living it quite of my own accord for some time now, and bearing all the associated question marks generated by showing up to parties wearing a corset...
