nearly finished my summer outfit (very light and floaty - very necessary with our current hot weather)
still needs a petticoat and suitable hair and accessories, but after all that hand sewing, I was dying
to try it on and flounce about a bit.

This somehow snuck by me; you look beautiful! Great work!

Thats some great work there SC I'm jealous of your abilities; any chance of a close up of the Gauntlet of Doom? (As I've christened it in my mind)

Sure.  These were taken when the gauntlet was in progress.  There may be some bits missing (the pressure gauge, and the front of the cannon housing, most noticeably since they went on relatively late in the build) but this should give you a better look at the gauntlet.

Thanks for the compliments.  It was a lot of work, but I had a really fun time building it, and the rest of the costume.

sweet of you to say so.......I'm waiting for more accessories to finish it off, but in the meantime I'm working on my next project...something more suitable for a Lady to explore in, while in exotic climes. (or something like that)

So this is what I wore today, and similar to what I'll be wearing to a gig with a friend on Wednesday:

The waistcoat and the military jacket make it a bit steamier than my usual attire, something which I've been trying to go for for a while now.

The last few weeks have been full with good looking ladies and gentlemen and got me anxious to flaunt my Steampunk gear again, as it has been too long.

Luckily, I had a wonderful opportunity this weekend, as me and a few other Dutch Steampunk lovers met to visit the Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschappij (Veluwse Steamtrain Company). Obviously, a true playground for this kind of thing and ideal backdrop for photos in a Steampunk setting.

A few more underneath the spoiler:

Most people get hung up on the goggles and gears (both figuratively and, occasionally, literally). They really aren't necessary in the long run. Excellent job

Seconded. Goggles and gears (unless very tastefully done) would, in my opinion, ruin that outfit. It looks great just the way it is.
