I was surprised to see so many people in TN...It seems there really is a reason for the "Athens of the South" moniker other than the Parthenon! 

Quite so indeed, dear neighbor! Actually, Nashville was named the Athens of the South because of the vast number of institutes of higher learning, as well as the huge number of world class publishing houses there.

Which makes it more the sorrow that so many people think of Nashvillians as just a bunch of barefoot backwater guitar players.

Not that there's anything wrong with barefoot backwater guitar players... but they are a small group of the total population. (unless it's fan fair week)
