This weekend in Somerset, NJ  http://www.oneiroievents.com/thesteampunkworldsfair/

Unfortunat...  There is no WAY I can make that, although I'd LOVE to!  Perhaps next year-assuming we're not all killed by the Zombies first...
Don't let these shakes go on, it's time we had a break from it. Send me to the rear! Where the Tides of Madness swell, and men sliding into Hell...

Oh please don't let these shakes go on...

Ahh!  Mighty number 4.  Someday songs will be written and stories told of Mighty Number 4. :)

Great to see you are spreading the word on The Rocket Pack Collective.

Good start!

Nozzles:
- anything round and flared, funnels, trumpets, drink bottle tops, etc

Frame:
- anything you can comfortably wear, backpack frame, old farm weed sprayer frame, etc

Old hose can be used to connect part A to part B.

Best of all - have fun building it!

Actually on further examination and investigation there are some safety concerns (i.e. the tank may not actually be empty) related to the tank. But I do now have some idea of what I want my jetpack to look like...

Thomas MSwift

Definitely use caution in verifying that your tank has no volatiles, flammables, cryogenics, or other noxiousities (is that a word?) within before you use it!
Having more friends is a good thing for me...fragmenting the ones I have does NOT appeal to me as a means!

Adding a pair of solid fuel boosters to the build.

Sticks to be installed later.

I'm just an old traditionalist when it comes to these things.

Light blue touchpaper and retire.

To the South Downs, preferably.

(and possibly the North Downs, the South Coast and parts of the Home Counties simultaneously)

;)

Dr cornelius quack

S'pose I need a trad style firing system now?

Hmmmm?

I was thinking that, if you were taking the low tech traditional approach, in the best tradition of Heath Robinson, the firing system should be a candle, in the obligatory "Willie Winkie" candlestick, attached to a hinged arm, that can be moved under the fuse by pulling a piece of string.

Dr cornelius quack

Robot Impregnated??????? :o

Not sure I like the sound of that.

Still, If you're looking for an automated bang?

Mr. Addams, already got one of them.

Mr Addams

Well than Dr Quack,
I really think that you should take your inspiration from Mr Heath Robinson and include as much kitchenware, string, and broken wood (Repaired with string)  as possible.

Personally I would like to see a rocket pack designed in the style of W Heath Robinson.
I Could not find a rocket pack, but here are a couple of pictures for inspiration

OR

Dr cornelius quack

Something like this, you mean?

First go at a fit up for the bits made so far.

Still much work to do, but I'm pleased with it so far.
Fortunately, there is never any shortage of old bits of string at Quack Towers.

I must confess that I have now been inspired to create a rocket pack in the style of W Heath Robinson myself.

I just have to find A Blowlamp, A pair of wooden Cupboard doors, several yards of rubber hose, part of a bicycle, and an old Tea Kettle.
Oh, and lots of string!

I also forgot, several brass or copper musical instruments.

Looking at Blackreaper's Plague Doctor mask in another thread make me think that something similar with adaptive 'beak' geometry might give a certain 'Anglo-French' look to a Rocketeer's helmet.

Firing system.

Details to add, but the structure is there.

Curly wire? Curly wire? Who's got the curly wire?
