picked this beauty up today for £20 instead of £25. its a wheel lock pistol, since its clockwork i think its pretty steamy. currently giving it repair.

Me thinks you need a go again at the pics .
The gun is too small in the pics-too much of the textiles in the shot and not enough gun, also, just a wee bit blury there.
It might be just fine to start, but can't get an overall good idea, sorry. Maybe someone else has clearer vision.

nice little pot metal wheel lock, I would say it shows plenty of potential. adding bits and pieces in contrasting metal (brass!) will help break up the monotony of all that zinc. even changing up some of the present pieces would help.

you could cut away the odd trigger guard and use the handle from a large antique (or near antique) serving spoon in its place. just bend the handle into the right shape and drill two screw holes in it to hold it in place. a silver or stainless one would look much better than more of that potmetal. find a key for winding mantle clocks and replace the winged key. some sort of brass cover over the wheel too.

top it off with some sort of brass body scope for sniping and no kraken will stand a chance.

otto i'm thinking of adding a mag, don't think i can do much with the guard as it's attatched to  the trigger, it all fell out i had to epoxy it in. might skip the scope as i intend to wield it like a pistol

i might use a radiator key it looks like some wind up clock keys ive seen, the only problem is putting the flathead screw through it.

My muzzle-loading, gear-locked, aether-splitting handgonne (hand cannon).  I first found it in 2372.  Just a tiny bit more restoration work remains.  Comments appreciated.

You may want to try adding some brass/copper bits to the metal to add some contrast. I've see some round brass filigree pieces that may work well, as well as some copper tape(for stained glass) wrapped around a few of those peg/pipe like pieces for the guard and such(?).

that is a beauty, i was thinking of it being a slugthrower, there is a twist but you'll see that when i complete it, i need to find a brass but to cover the wheel and perhaps something to replace the lock/arm piece

may have run into an issue. the bolt for the wind key is hexagonal, radiator key does not fit and from what i understand clock keys are square

Dremel (or similar) it with a cutoff blade to make it square.

can i have some advice? i'm thinking of leaving the wheel lock for now creating a copper barreled under over howdah inspired pistol maybe a pepperbox too. thoughts? (both guns would have copper barrels)

The artistry and ingenuity displayed by these implements of defense and destruction is truly remarkable. I was wondering, however, whether any of the bearers of same have run afoul of the local constabulary when wearing them to conventions; particularly those items built on, modeled after, or appearing like real firearms, especially in jurisdictions that frown upon firearms in private hands.
