Thank heavens for articles such as this one.

Apparently I've been doing the underwear wrong all this time. :-\

I'm really not too sure where the platform boots part came from. But in fairness these things have been mentioned on this forum. I'm going to hazard a guess the place does get dipped into by researchers from time to time.

Still it's slightly pressuring to consider that when just shooting the breeze, any one of us could find our musings being published as gospel.  :D
Have her steamed and brought to my tent!

Captain Lyerly

Well, I am used to that.

In accordance with the Prophesy.

Umm, wasn't that an omelette though??

What the omelette is to the French cook, the pancake is to the English man. What's a little flour between friends? :)

I tried the petticoats and corsets thing and people looked at me strangely. And not your normal strangely I mean REALLY strangely. Also they tend to chaff up top and down below.

Rockula

Not strictly Steampunk but definitely Victorian.

Yet another Metro article led me to this. Seems the Victorians went for a bit of the old 'dressing up' too. :)

Some dress up, some just horrifically scary. The one on the left in the pack of girls wearing white. It's a bit exorcist.

Well timed shot.

Indeed, I never knew that Rasputin the mad monk had been franchising out his "look". Apparently, so.

Yes, as a matter of fact, she went five rounds with John L. Sullivan.

BBC News has an article today 'How to build a bigger, better corkscrew' http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-22083752about 'mechanical sculptor' Rob Higgs. He doesn't call himself a steampunk, but they do: "The junkyard genius turning scrap into steampunk sculptures"
I speak in syllabubbles. They rise to the surface by the force of levity and pop out of my mouth unneeded and unheeded.

Good for him ! the featured pieces are excellent, I suspect like so many of us he benefitted from the postive influence of Wilf Lunn  8)in his formative years.

Not sure about the efficiency but it is certainly more splendid.

Ada Thorold

I was just heading to this thread to post about that very article. Great fun.

There's a picture in today's Metro of a couple (a man and his 10yr old daughter) looking resplendant in their steampunk attire photographed at Whitby this past weekend. Of course The Metro labels them as 'Goths' because it was the WGW.... ::)

Yes, I saw that too. Firstly I thought: "My, they are looking splendid." then my right side brain engaged thinking...... "ah metro press with 2 steamy people at a Goth event.... I do hope no one takes this the wrong way". Then sense resurfaced: "It's a picture of 2 people, you take from it what you want too. Which has no bearing on what it IS; which is a photograph of 2 people BEING SPLENDID!"

Thought consummated,  I turned to Nemi and all was right with the world.
