I'd like to pose a philosophical question, if I may. As an outside observer to the furry scene* it seems to me that (and please do correct me if I'm wrong) wolf or canine 'fursonas' seem to be the most popular (Caledonian as a notable exception, of course). I was wondering why this might be. Is it simply that people are making connections with their pets (literally a 'dog person'), but then there are all the ancient stories of werewolves and such like to consider.

I was contemplating if it was related to the fact that it seems that wolves were the first creatures to be domesticated. It is thought ancient humans and wolves learned to work together in the hunt, benefiting both species. We are both 'pack animals' with a sense of hierarchy and oganisation. Is that there is a meeting of minds between out species, or a lingering race memory of those pre-historic times?

Just some musings...

Yours,
Miranda.

*Although given the number of faux-fur coats and shrugs in my wardrobe, I might just swing an honorary pass...  ;)

I will respond to this properly later, but I'll send you this first proving the furry comunity itself isnt quite sure either. The link leads to a furry forum. Do not worry its mostly sfw and spam free.

I promised a proper answer, but I don't know what to say. I love this theory, as I love the idea of things from our distant past still influencing unconciously. hmm.
it's nice. I'll roll with it :D

and meanwhile I'll flaunt over this suit. it's amazing. I want it.

The interesting thing is that (excluding the Nicomimi and the head it's self,
The tech is now cheaply available including a duel camera, duel screen setup using a raspberry pi.

Heya, furry here. I've been kinda interested in creating a steampunk persona/costume for a bit, but now with two upcoming cons I have an excuse to get the fires under me.

I hail from the Phoenix forms Cal often mentions and she dragged me here. :D

The first con I will go to is Motor City Furry Con, which has a steampunk theme this year. Unfortunately, their website doesn't have said theme, and I'm trying to contact the IT guys to help with that (and so far failing ;_; ). I am kinda curious if there's resources here on the board to help with designing steampunk style sites?

A reply a couple months later, but as someone who's been a while in the fandom, I've noticed the biggest amount of people are foxes, felines, wolves, dogs, and dragons... I may be missing something. I think it's because people A) pick the cutest thing they can think of, or more likely B) because we have dogs and cats as pets, and think they're adorable, and want to have characters as cute as them. That doesn't explain so much wolves and foxes, although both are kinda like dogs and just as cute. The wolves may also be because people see them as noble and spiritual and in touch with nature (a Native American kind of thing, although probably off because I don't know if any Natives actually worshiped or honored wolves). As for Dragons, those are popular because a lot of people are into high fantasy and dragons are cool.
The gears on the airship go round and round, round and round, round and round....

Why I want to a wolf is down to the fact that my MC in my books is a werewolf!
Welcome to the site CrazyLee.
As to site with tips then I would have to say that you should peruse photo's of the Victorian era and try to get a feel of what a Victorian Furry would look like.
