Hello all!

I'm an aspiring steampunk creator who's been inspired by several events I've attended to really get going with steampunk, and I'm currently working on making some cool bits & pieces which I hope to open an online shop for!

Looking forward to browsing through everyone's creations on here and getting even more motivated!

Hello, Mr. Bloke! Welcome to the forum! Live events can be quite an experience, but this is where you get to philosophize on the subject. The main thing is not to take it too seriously and just have fun! You will probably perusing the Tactile section where we post most of the builds. Clothing articles or anything wearable would be at the anatomical section.

Having been posting on this website for quite a while now, it might be thought odd that I should only now seek to introduce myself....   But here goes....

I chose my Steampunk name (& persona) shortly after I was introduced to Steampunk a couple of years ago, when I first had an idea for a Steampunk entertainment.  I've been working on this and had it not been for the lockdown, it might well have had its first outing this year....

Still, I've got time to build my costume, and work on the accessories for my entertainment....

No prizes for anyone who identifies the literary allusion....

Ascent

Hello everyone. I'm just getting into Steampunk although I've been aware of it for a long time. I've always been a bit of a geek and a big fan of TTRPG's and various things of that ilk. At the moment I'm just trying to get to grips with the whole thing.

I've ideas about a costume I'd like to work on although I've no idea where to start. There is another Steampunk fan near me who I've spoken on discord with, we're both patrons of the FLGS and the owner suggest I talk to him when I mentioned getting into it. He's given me some places to start looking and I shall be going to my first event next weekend, a Proffesor Elemental gig.

Hopefully I'll find what I'm looking for on here.

Welcome Ascent to Brass Goggles. Whether you wear an invisible top hat, goggles, a vertical propulsion device or just braces and boots, I hope you enjoy Prof Elemental.

Greetings from the Gulf Coast,

I don't rightly recall if I introduced myself before or never got around too it, but as I am hoping to be a touch more active at long last here it goes...again possibly!

I have many interests and have gradually found that many of them seem to have a place somewhere within steampunk, or at least steampunk seems an interesting lens to look at these things through. I am also a homesteader in one of the wonkiest bits of the south climate wise, though I suspect actual swamp dwellers would argue that and perhaps envy me my pine woods...as such that too colors much of my interests, whilst giving me room to experiment when time permits.

A quick sampling of interests: traveling carnivals (calliope anyone?), steam locomotives and railway folklore (you can slap folklore on most of these and be right), live steam, tinkering on/building engines and assorted machines, hydrogen for heavy lift, rigid hull airships, gremlin/goblin/nocker folk and how they might associate with the technologies of the 19th century, the 'wild west' period in old Florida, clockwork and automata of all sorts, early electrical devices, and the fanboy squealing inducing style of steampunk in general from on the town attire to oil stained mechanic-wear, oh and telling tales around all of this especially if puppetry could get involved.

So that's me, or me as applied here, thanks for reading, I'll be over here polishing this odd brass gewgaw with the 'do not push' button clearly labeled.

Fantastic Contraptions

Hello, let me introduce myself!

I have long been a tinkerer and experimenter, starting off with modifying Mamod steam toys.  My daughter was getting in to cosplay,  and it was through accompanying her and her friends (Basically being the Dad Taxi) to comic cons that I was introduced to steam punk, being particularly impressed by the probably well known steam punk R2D2.  I realised that Steampunk fitted in very well with my hobbies, and now I could even have a great costume to attend not just Steampunk, but all steam related events!

However me being me, I like to be a little different, and my objective is to have all my Steampunk contraptions actually powered by steam, particularly when it comes to my boat...

I hope to attend future Steampunk events with the boat, particularly where there is water - Lincoln Asylum 2022 is on the to-do list!

Welcome aboard, Fantastic - love the light show!

Welcome to the forum! Looks like you've been having a great time! Indeed, you are a Steampunk when you can never have too many steam powered contraptions.

A warm welcome to the new members, and a "glad we're back" to those returning.

Again, I'm not the most active member I once was--but there's still a thing about this site being up, feels like home, yeah?

So fire up the engines, mates, pour a shot or three, welcome the newcomers, throw ropes to the old so they can climb back aboard. Let's steer this ship forward and into a brighter future (here's to hoping, anyroad)!
No, no, girliepop, I GIVE advice, I don't TAKE it, not even my own.

Well, hello there fellow Steampunk fans - I'm very pleased to meet you all.

I am Drew, an aspiring author and retiring accountant, but as you can probably tell from my avatar taken in my office, I'm not your average, boring, grey suited bean counter  ;)

For the last two years I have been plotting and drafting my first novel which will be published this year (2022).

If anyone has any questions about my novel, I will do my best to reply without giving too much of the plot away, of course  ;D

I very much look forward to meeting you.

Hello everyone! I have been a longtime steampunk fan since high school when I first dressed as a steampunkified Amelia Earhart for Halloween. I have been wanting to get more involved in the online steampunk community, as there seems to be none where I live (boo!).

I am a writer and collector of knowledge, dolls, and knick knacks who is also on the autism spectrum. I mainly dress as various characters from my imagination (i.e. the time-traveling troubadour, the demure schoolteacher, etc), as well as enjoy steampunk music such as Rasputina and Steam Powered Giraffe. Feel free to pop in and say hi! I may not be able to respond right away due to a busy schedule and limited energy, but a friendly face/word is always welcome.
Classic literature enthusiast, collector of dolls and knick knacks, internet amateur, hyperverbal autistic time-traveling troubadour. I come in peace and with good faith intentions!

Salutations !
I have been into Steampunk for several years and have prescription goggles instead of eyeglasses. My favorite outfit I own consists of pinstripe brown and black jeans, Demonia Steam boots, and a ruffle off-white shirt. I reside in southern New Mexico close to the USA Mexico border. Im in my mid 20's with a husband and two children under four.

Welcome, countryroadsoul, and well-met!

We're in the midst of some technical turmoil at the moment, so I suggest you also register at our Lifeboat forum, sparegoggles.forumotion.net, and follow my Twitter account (if you're into that sort of thing) @vonCorax where, in the event of a disruption, I try to post frequent updates.

Hi all!

New member here!

Have been interested in Steampunk for years but haven't really thrown myself into the community.... until now.

Went to the recent weekend in Hull and I am definitely hooked! Tried my hand at tea dueling but after an excellent first round I fell down at the final. All good fun!

Looking forward to absorbing your collective knowledge, meeting people and sharing my projects as and when I complete them!

David Vivian Haraldson

Hullo everyone,

I'm a general science fiction fan who's joining the community forum to learn more about steampunk. I grew up in the shadow of Manchester's dark satanic mills, tramped around Great Britain as an antiquarian (i.e., "archaeologist"), and moved to Emperor Norton's California, before finally settling in New Jersey. It was in New Jersey, that I attended one my first steampunk convention—one of the COGS Steampunk Expositions (a gaming-centric one).

My curiosity about steampunk is driven by several adjacent or near-adjacent enthusiasms, including:

  • games, whether tabletop role-playing games, miniature war games, board games, or play-by-(electronic)-mail games,
  • fanzines (I edit—well, write—a general SF analogue games 'zine titled Back to the Spaceport),
  • scientific romances,
  • Mr. Bryan Talbot's Luther Arkwright and Mr. Michael Moorcock's Oswald Bastable,
  • psychogeography and hauntology (especially utopian futures that never happened).
Finally, I have a (slowly) developing interest in eco-marxism and William Morris's dream visions which I hope steampunks will not find too distressing.

Sincerely,
Yours sincerely,

Mr. David Vivian Haraldson
