I could change my user name to Von SteamPipe.  I'd post some of my sculptures but don't know how to do it without uploading them.

If you don't fit in anywhere, you definitely fit in here! Please, tell us more of your submarine adventures!

You will need to upload them somewhere, as we do not host photos ourselves. I use Imgur as a photo host, although it does take some faffing about to get the photos to be visible. (As compared to the Book of Faces, where posting a photo here requires the sort of blood sacrifice which no-one has yet successfully completed.)

Being punk means that you are going against the norm - not always adhering to convention. Not fitting in works well for that, but in its nature, there are no rules of how you are different. As von Corax said, you are welcome to share your tales, correspond your adventures, reflect on your experiments and creations.

Well, sorry for the ranting and raving a bit there, I generally don't do that.  I just dip my toe in and expect miracles... I've just been searching for something that may not exist.  It's very frustrating sometimes.  I've been going against the grain for some time now.

Good points all around.  I will try to figure out how to host photos and continue my reading and research here.  I will share some tales in the future, I've been called a windbag before, though.

Thanks for you thoughts on these matters.

I also have to be careful because sometimes I post off topic, wrong forum, and other things.  I will have to do some sculpture work that fits in because most of my past work is fossils, creatures, insects, birds and what not.  Usually with a bizzare twist to them.  Put's some people off.  I'm looking for a intro to steampunk topic but my searching skills are bad.  I have memory problems.

We're generally pretty lenient on wandering topics, and posts in the wrong board are easily moved. As for creatures with a bizarre twist, I for one eagerly await your exhibition. If you need any help posting them, by all means PM me and I'll try to walk you through the process.

Hez isn't my real name either.  The best part about steampunk is that you don't have to fit in to belong here and fit in.

You might look at our wiki. The link is in the main menu bar, just below the date. It's also at https://brassgoggles.net/wiki/.

Thank you both.  Like I said my memory is getting bad and forgot to check back.  I also tried to use my password for my user name logging in.  I will check out the wiki.  I'm still not sure about Steampunk as a direction for my sculpture work.  I read the thread on rusty junk all the way through.  I do love disabbandoned rusty junk.  I found an old railroad wreck site once and was in hog heaven. So.  8)  8) what?  I would ask you what Von Corax and Hez mean to you but that's probably burried somewhere on here and I did not do my homework!

Are you asking what our names mean, or what Steampunk means to us? I'm always willing to talk about either, and I'm sure Hez feels likewise.

Really, what yor name means.  Good gravey. I have been seeing a lot of depressing stuff on here.  I'm sympothetic because my life disintegrated 7 years ago, but along I plug.  Still have not fig<red out how to post photo's.

I wonder if a wad of barbwire that looks like Edgar A. Poe would be Steampunk, because I am making one.

.

I don't see why not.  That's for the Tactile section, I think.  That's where sculpture goes (I think that'd qualify as sculpture)

Well had (have?) a member who generated Steampunk names by rearranging the letters of our names. And I think that there's more than one thread that specifically calls you to describe your persona if you have one.  A lot of the names were listed there with their respective explanations, because they had some significance to the character.

Examples:

No problem. My IRL surname is of Danish origin and means "raven," the Linnean name for which is Corvus corax. When I "found" Steampunk (Hey! That stuff I like has a name!) I wanted something a bit over-the-top for a Forum name, and came up with von Corax.

Eventually I decided to flesh out the character, and thought it would be cool to use my IRL initials, so, Darwin Prætorius von Corax. (I'm also a bit of a science nerd.) I also wanted a title, but didn't want to steal glory (so no unearned noble, military or academic rank.) I did already have the idea of the Institute rattling around my brain, so I became Professor Darwin Prætorius von Corax, Executive Director of the Leverkusen Institute of Paleocybernetics. (The Institute has its own story.)

The first thing you need is a photo hosting site. I use Imgur, but others work as well. PM me and I can walk you through the process.
