Hi, I'm very new to steampunk but I'm really taken with the jewellery so much so, we'd added a small steampunk jewellery section to our website. I'd say they're everyday necklaces that can be worn (say at work) to show your allegiance to steampunk. We only have a few in stock at the moment but I'd love it if you could add our link as these are brand new to the market and only came out three weeks ago. Currently prices range from £9.95 - £14.95 and I thought these could also be good 'starter' pieces so if you like crafting them you could add more parts to.

I was down in whitstable the other day and came across an unbelievably fantastic shop called pearl and hemmingway they have a huge stock of retro, vintage and theatrical cloathing at reasonable prices and the owner is a very nice lady. If you find yourself in the area I would recommend a look.

Just a little update, you can now buy Celtic Rose Art items from the Roath Craft Fair every Saturday in the community centre in Keppoch Street, Cardiff (next to The Gate theatre, behind the Farmer's Market) from 10.30-1. 
 
I am also FULL ON trading once a month at Jacobs Antique Centre at the monthly Be Kind, Rewind vintage and handmade fair (behind Cardiff Central train station) from 11-5. The next event takes place on the 22nd April, and I will have jewelry, accessories, clothing and randomness!

A few useful resources in east london for people who like to make clothes.
Opposite Upton Park tube - lovely fabrics from a shop beginning with H with a green and gold sign - the name escapes me (sorry, its me age).  Shop has been in Upton Park for 3 generations, owner very knowledgeable about fabric.  Sell good shirting and suit weight fabrics at the back of the shop.  Cross the road for Queen's market, useful haberdashery.  Also fabric stall, very cheap, good variable.  Lots of synthetics but the odd nice bit of cotton. Market and shop open Tues, Thurs, Fri and Sat from about 10.30am.
Nice lace from a stall in Walthamstow Market - some synthetic but some cotton and therefore dyeable (e.g. with tea).
Spitalfields Antiques and Collectibles on (I think) Thursdays - a bit pricey but some nice bits to be had.

It occurred to me that it would be a good idea to have a catalogue of shops where nice steampunky things could be bought in the UK. We seem to have less choice than other countries and some shared knowledge could be a good idea.
Ideally, the list should be mainly high-street shops or the like, so that it is relevant for the most people, but feel free to point out good specialist shops or UK-based websites.
Obviously, this kind of thing would be good for other countries, so if anyone feels inclined to do the same...
I'll try and sort it into categories. Hopefully if we have enough input this will become useful. At the moment, I only really have one note-worthy shop, but if everyone keeps track of where they have got their finds from...

Sheffield:
There's a shop in Crookes and another on London road run by the same people the one in Crookes say "Chinese Fireworks" on the sign, they open pretty much when they feel like it but are by far the best secondhand/junk shops I've ever been in they sell literally everything from clothes to tools to old laboratory equipment. However they don't carry a lot of stock so regular visits are a must. 

Lincoln/Lincolnshire:
On The Strait  in Lincoln there's a shop called something like "J Birkett" they sell all sorts of old electrical/electronic equipment including ex-army /ex-RAF and old electrical test equipment

In Lincolnshire Helmswell antique centre is worth a visit, a lot of the units are genuine antiques and are quite pricey but some sell more house clearance type things and are fairly reasonable.

Newark antique fair (held annually) is well worth a visit and the £5 admission charge they sell literally anything old, again some stuff is quiet pricey but there are bargains to be had especially at some of the house clearance type stalls. Also you will be overwhelmed be the variety of brass artifacts for sale.
