Something with comrade Solomin I went wrong. Couldn't choose movies that would be here for sure to show it in all its glory.

To begin with, he starred in the title role in the film received the Oscar. Though I haven't watched .

At the same time shows a romantic plot line where Paul Koltsov wins the heart of the daughter of the chief of counterintelligence Colonel Shchukin Thani.

Another important storyline — the fate of Yury Lvov, the son of a white Colonel, who was killed in battle. The boy is experiencing a series of tragic adventures on both sides of the front, until he gets custody of Koltsov. Supervisory Yura realizes that Koltsov — the red spy. In a candid conversation Koltsov manages to convince Yura that he is right.

At the end of the film Koltsov sacrifices himself to destroy the special train of the white with the British tanks, distilled on the front. Koltsov gets arrested, waiting for his imminent death.

TASS - Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union. The news Agency of the USSR.

Great movie about the American imperialists, spy the CIA, and the valiant KGB agents standing guard in the world. In many ways, the film is based on real events, the exposure of American agents in the Soviet foreign Ministry.

"TASS is authorized to declare..." is a Soviet multi-part feature film made in 1984 based on the novel by Julian Semyonov, the Director Vladimir Fokin. Tells about the struggle of Soviet and American intelligence.

The story takes place in Moscow and in the fictitious African country called Crazyland, in particular, its capital, Louisbourg. The KGB became known that in Moscow is a CIA agent under the codename of Trianon, which produces for Americans information associated with a position in another fictitious African country Surges bordering Trailanga. In search of a KGB spy goes to a researcher of the Institute of Economics Olga winter. The suspicion of KGB espionage, falls on her husband Zotova, from which Olga went to Sergey Dubov. Zotov — engineer-shipbuilder, controlling deliveries from the USSR to the Surges. In Africa flies the KGB agent Slavin (playing Solomin), who must investigate the situation.

Americans Dubov convey not only the microfilm with messages, but also jewelry, and such, what the Soviet Union is not produced, and it becomes one of the additional evidence against him. That is  wild movie plot. It would be a rather deep movie.  And a contraversial one.  It is interesting  and possibly based on a true story

Despite Western claims of former Soviet countries being heavier on censorship , that movie woukd never get made I  the west by any major film company and possibly  be banned .

This genre we call "political Thriller". A little action, a lot of conversations. And for the Soviet audience and even exotic. Africa, foreign life.

Censorship in the USSR was strong. Although some aspects are greatly exaggerating.

However, in this movie, nothing shocking. For the Soviet viewer. And if you think about it, and for a Western audience. Just need to put the mirror.




I want to clarify. In the film, three basic themes.

1) the exposure of the spy in Moscow.

2) the attempted coup in a fictional country - Surges.

3) past CIA agent, which "digs" of the KGB.

"About the poor hussar say a word" — the Soviet two-part Comedy historical fiction TV movie 1980 directed by Eldar Ryazanov. The premiere of the film at the Central television of the USSR on 1 January 1981.

Want to make a reservation. The plot is fictional and utterly fantastic.
1) In the Russian Empire of that time, the death penalty was extremely rare incident.
2) Officers would not agree on the role of executioner, whatever punishment they were threatened. And no one would in their right mind it is not suggested.

I clarify because when I read some articles about Russia, it seems is a joint work of the Marquis Custine and Goebbels.

And a hilarious movie. Between the tragic moments. Good actors. Funny dialogues. And there's songs on verses of poets of that time.

The film takes place approximately 30 years after the Napoleonic wars. The provincial city of Guberns agog hussars entry. "Autumn marathon". A sad Comedy.

And really sad movie. But a Comedy. This film Danelia. Lyrical laughter, lyric tears.

He lives in this world Buzykin. 46 years old, translator, cooperating with a publishing house, teaches students at the University. And he runs, runs, runs, and all no time. He had no strength to stop and look around.

He has a wife. He has a mistress. Wife's afraid to be alone, mistress wants to get married and a child.

"The conspiracy of ambassadors" (Lett. Sūtņu sazvērestība) — Soviet historical-adventure film, directed by Mykola Rozantseva at the Riga film studios in 1965.

The film tells about one of the pages of the Soviet history — the conspiracy of the leaders of the diplomatic services of Britain, France and the United States aimed against the Soviets.

The summer of 1918. The ambassadors of the States-allies of Russia in the war with Germany intrigue against the Soviet government. Through the pastor Tiltina, a former regimental priest, one of the commanders of the Latvian Riflemen leaves the representative of British intelligence, Reilly. It plays on the Patriotic feelings of Latvians, whose homeland was under German occupation after the Brest peace.

The initial purpose of the conspiracy is the desire to force the Bolsheviks to continue the war on the Entente side. Berzin did not hesitate to go to the Cheka and talks about the attempted recruitment of Dzerzhinsky and Peters. Security officers begin an operation to identify the conspirators and try to clarify their true plans.

Threatening to withdraw from the case, Berzin finds out from Riley that the arrows have to arrest all the major Soviet leaders to transfer power into the hands of the puppets of the allies. For the loyalty and unconditional implementation scheduled was assigned a reward, part of which was paid immediately.

At a meeting with Felix Dzerzhinsky was decided to take all of the defendants red-handed in the day of rebellion. The murder of Uritsky provoked preventive arrests and some of the organizers managed to escape. Lockhart was taken to the Cheka, but having diplomatic immunity, was released after questioning and expelled from Soviet Russia.

Today is the birthday of film Director Igor Maslennikov (26 Oct 1931) . The author's Soviet film adaptation of Sherlock Holmes.

In connection with these English review of his creation.

❉ Between 1979 and 1986 Sherlock Holmes dominated Soviet state television in what is regarded in Russia as the best TV series ever made, and globally as one of the finest adaptations of Conan Doyle's work.


Conan Doyle's Holmes stories had always been popular in Russia (as had Victorian literature in general) and a television version of The Hound of the Baskervilles had aired in the early 1970s, and was frequently repeated.  Lasting two and a half hours the production had been very popular, so a new version was commissioned in 1978.  Holmes and Watson were to be played by Vasily Livanov and Vitaly Solomin.

Vasily Livanov was a highly-regarded actor, born into an already established acting family.  Acting since the late 1950s on stage, television and film his famously hoarse voice had graced more than a hundred cartoons and would be well known to viewers.

Vitaly Solomin had been acting on stage and in films since 1964, gaining fame in Russia for his role as Kirill in 'Starshaya sestra'.  Equally famous for his colourful private life (two wives and a mistress), Solomin died of a stroke on May 27, 2002, in Moscow.

The first block of two episodes was adapted by Yuliy Dunskiy and Valeriy Frid.  They chose to start the series with the introduction to Holmes of Watson in A Study in Scarlet, a story very seldom depicted on screen.  In the full knowledge that there wasn't enough plot to fill two 70 minute episodes they also incorporated The Speckled Band.

The merging of the two stories works extremely well, and audiences quickly took to this version.  This approach to filming the stories would serve the series well as it progressed: quite often stories would merge into other stories.  Rather than detracting from the pace this serves the narrative extremely well.  Conan Doyle's stories are perfectly paced for the page but often defy easy adaptation: there simply isn't enough material for a 50 or 70 minute episode in one short story.  Merging two stories together results in a running time that does justice to each story without giving them time to flag.

Surprisingly, the adaptations are also extremely faithful to the original text, more so than any version before or since.  As a result the Russian series is usually regarded by students of Holmes as the most accurate committed to film.

Victorian London was recreated surprisingly well by utilising a variety of locations which had not been modernised. The cinematography is moody, while the episodes are well directed by Igor Maslennikov and the musical score by Vladimir Dashkevich captures the feel of the era well.

The greatest strength, and one the audience quickly took to, is the pairing of Livanov and Solomin.

Livanov's Holmes is almost exactly as Conan Doyle described him (although his clothes owe more to Sidney Padget than Doyle).  A ruthless thinking machine, there is no doubt from Livanov's performance that this is perhaps the most intelligent man who ever lived.  Impatient with everyone around him and interested only in mental stimulation (his drug-taking was a victim of Soviet censorship) it is Watson who makes him human.  Livanov gives a quite remarkable performance as a character portrayed so often it is understandable that audiences would expect no one could find something fresh to do with the man, yet Livanov does, and it's mostly through his relationship with Watson that he shines.

If Livanov is great, Solomin's Watson is stunning.  There is no sign of the buffoon here that actors are usually forced to portray: Watson is an intelligent man in his own right, a competent medical officer, heroically brave and often distracted by beautiful ladies.  Solomin gives Watson an especially appealing smile that makes him seem particularly boyish, and any images of Watson as an aged fool are swiftly forgotten.

Livanov's Holmes clearly adores Watson (Watson is the one person with whom he is never short-tempered) and the mutual respect of the two is what makes us like this Holmes.

Rounding off what would become the regular cast is Rina Zelenaya as Mrs Hudson.  Given some great comic business of her own she's very much an equal to the two characters and adds a welcome presence.

Little Donald Trump has played "the ransom of red chief" in Soviet film adaptation of short stories by O. Henry. This film irrefutably proves his connection with the KGB.

"Business people" — the Soviet Comedy, filmed on the short stories of O. Henry in 1962 by Director Leonid Gaidai.

The film consists of three unrelated on the plot of the novels based on the stories of American writer O. Henry. The first story is tragic, the other two — the comic:

Confrontation (TV series)

"Confrontation" — Soviet color (with inserted black-and-white fragments) six-part TV drama, staged in a film Studio "Lenfilm" in 1985, directed by Semyon Aranovich on the novel by Julian Semyonov.

The film is based on two time layers. The first one relates to 1979-1980 year, flowing mainly in the USSR; the second to the years of the great Patriotic war, while he touches on the front line and the territory of Germany.

In the bushes by the side of the road that connects the airport with the Northern city of Nardin, tied in unusual knot bag found the dismembered corpse of a man who disappeared in the late autumn of 1979. He's across the country pursues the elusive victim of the Communist regime killer. Meets with people, razgovarivat with people. Nothing seems to be happening and to watch it was interesting.

There are films of different genres and directions. You can assign different categories.

We have such a thing as the films of Mark Zakharov. Moreover, not all the films of Mark Zakharov, are the films of Mark Zakharov. This is a paradox.

Mark Zakharov first and foremost a theater Director. The famous head of the "Moscow state theatre named after Lenin Komsomol". This famous theatre, tickets were very hard to come by.
Mark Zakharov made a few films (as Director and screenwriter). But a few stand out films of the parables. The plays of E. L. Shvarts, the creation of which was attended by playwright Grigory Gorin.
Four of them: "An Ordinary Miracle", "The Very Same Munchhausen ", "The House That Swift Built ", "Kill the dragon". "An Ordinary Miracle" — the Soviet art of the two-part TV movie in 1978. The film adaptation of the play by Eugene Schwartz.

The film's protagonist — a Magician, who, to amuse himself and his wife, invents stories. The heroes come to life, come to his house and begin to live your life. Another tale was very sad...
Many years ago, a Wizard came up with "the tale on the contrary" — has turned the bear into a human (Alexander Abdulov) and decided that he would turn back into a bear when he ends up with the Princess and kisses him. And here is a young man, originally a bear, returns to the wizard and meets in his home a beautiful girl who he really liked. To his horror, she was a Princess the wizard had done to the king passing by with his daughter and retinue, wanted to roll to his house.

And then the tale: about love, car chases, broken hearts, mistakes, happiness, tavern in the snowy mountains (and the innkeeper Yuri Solomin), Pro hunter, and a dying Princess.

The film is a lot aphoristic scenes, they all know. And when you say the phrase out these scenes, you know what I mean. But without the movie quote useless. Perhaps only one phrase to live its own life: "3 days I'm chasing you. Yes! To tell you I do not care!"

And Yes! The film is funny and exciting.

I thought Stanislav LEM, is well known in the United States.

Stanislaw Lem used to be read more widely. I don't know if he was not appreciated for awhile due to poor translations of his work.
