Capital! Steampunk has been asked to put on a steampunk weekend at the Wellington Museum at the end of November.  So we will.

There'll be presentations (if I can ever get my version of Steampunk 101 finished!), craft workshops, readings and Splendid Teapot Racing.  The Saturday readings will be light (Lewis Carroll, Hilaire Belloc, perhaps a little Kipling), while Sunday's will be (slightly) more serious, with a look at some of the speeches on both sides of the women's suffrage in New Zealand in 1892/3.

The event is to mark the first birthday of The Attic, the Museum's new display space (which not incidentally is what we all wish our lounges looked like), and a highlight of the weekend will be our celebrated ambulatory reading of The Hunting of the Snark, progressing through the Museum to finish in The Attic for the cutting of the birthday cake.

Dates are 26/27 November, starting at 1pm both days.  The Snark will begin around 4.30pm on the Saturday.  The Wellington Museum is on Jervois Quay, and entry is by donation. If you're in Welly that weekend we'd be delighted to see you.

Whatever did we do before retro-futurism?
