This looks good: I love Blists Hill and the setting should be excellent.  Anyone going?

This will be my first steampunk event: I'm keen to meet people and find out more about it all.

We'll be there on the Sunday, and I think there will be a fair number of West Midlands Stempunk Assembly members going along, but unfortunately it clashes with with an event in Wales so the group will be divided between these. By the way, for other events in the midlands area please see this thread http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,41782.0.html and also https://www.facebook.com/groups/112830022111733/.

Yours,
Miranda.

It was brilliant!

I'm also chuffed to bits how well my talk on the British soldier's essential martian kit, 'Dress Me Up Scottie', went down. Many thanks to everyone who came, but most of all to my able assistant and willing victim volunteer, Jo and Scott Read.
'This job looks complicated, get a bigger hammer!'

'The 4lb lump hammer, also known as a Birmingham Screwdriver'

'Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.  Wisdom is never putting them in a fruit salad.'

AstorKaine

Indeed, it was a brilliant weekend, even if I was only able to attend for the Saturday. Proud that the first proper outing for the Martian Expeditionary Force was not only in numbers but also warmly received!

I'm dreadfully sorry I missed all of that, Major!

I think my next recruiting effort needs to be more mobile, and not confined to an office for most of the day - that said, however, the office which myself and Herr Doktor were occupying was lovely and cool compared to your encampment.  ;D

Sorry we missed both of you on the Sunday. Having looked at the pictures on Facebook, both of your uniforms looked absolutely splendid! It was indeed a great event with an excellent backdrop for all those photos.

Yours,
Miranda.

Those pics should be here, also, no?
Some loyalty to this site vs that book of faces.
*sigh* I may have to brave fb.
Never ask 'Why?'
Always ask 'Why not!?'

The pictures of the Mars Expeditionary Forces are not mine to post, I'm afraid. The specific album I was looking at can be found here www.facebook.com/ferez.fee/media_set?set=a.1940349006205546.1073741909.100006913961095&type=3. I've popped a couple of piccys of your's truly up on 'Playing dress up', but of the other piccys I took I rather dimly managed to forget to ask if people were OK with them being put online  :-\

Yours,
Miranda.

I've got one or two pictures I can post in 'playing dress up', but unfortunately I'm still waiting for photos of the M.E.F. to be e-mailed to me, the bulk of them aren't mine, either.
