Hello!

Although I live in the UK, I'm trying to help a friend that lives in Woolongong NSW and works in Sydney find a Steampunk group to go to.
If anyone can point me at details of groups they might contact, 'twould be much appreciated (NB: I am not on any social media - unsure if my friend there is).

Thanks in anticipation,

Sincerley

Miss Esme Moore.

(PS: my friend's a mad-keen railway enthiusiast, but very much lkikes the Steampunk aesthetic too)

Good heavens, not a single response after so long and over a hundred views? Not even in the negative? Is there really NOTHING for my wannabe Steampunk friend in New South Wales to go to?

Brass Googles has been fairly quiet about events in the Antipodes in the last few years. In Melbourne, there are a few Victoriana/Goth events that occur each year, like the picnics (https://www.facebook.com/melb.gothic.victorian.picnic). Perhaps they might have better luck following up those angles in Sydney. Please tell us what you find.

In Melbourne, I find that any excuse to dress steampunk is a good time to do so. I am presently planning a SP Han Solo, SP Green Arrow, and SP some-other-superhero-but-I-haven't-decided-who-yet for later this year. Nothing steampunk about the event, but by golly by gosh, I will help make it steampunk.

Hello,
Joined to respond on behalf of Sydney.

At the moment, Sydney Steampunk do not have regular meets. Usually we just meet at festivals and events.
The next event for us is the Goulburn Waterworks Steampunk and Victoriana Fair on 14 October.

Most things are announced through the Steampunk Sydney facebook group.

Thanks Foxworth for the update. Commiserations of giving into FB.

Looks like there is in fact lots of fun in Sydney. I love some of the photos I have seen of the Winter Magic march. Fursuiters, steampunking, dancers, cosplay and many other communities.
