They  certainly set the tone. The pub is world famous in New Zealand.  It attracts  rallies  and  tours of all manner of vehicles.  Buses, bicycles, motor cycles, off road,  hot rod, vintage and farm.

Oh Bollards! I messed this one up (I tried to keep the first picture for this post)  >:( :(
Oh...my old war wound? I got that at The Battle of Dorking. Very nasty affair that was, I can tell you.

The Ministry of Tea respectfully advises you to drink one cup of tea day...for that +5 Moral Fibre stat.

Yep, well just the 2nd picture actually  :-[

I'm suprised that the

"Flying Kiwi" isn't there.

BTB the intro isn't mine & it's also a very bad copy (with German titles).

I have no recall of the show.  I was a TV addict in that era.  It must have been on the other side of something my Father was hooked on.

Not the right year - but a fleet of these from the 20s  would be just the ticket for Republic  state   service.

They certainly cut a dash in black

Oh wow!, they look great.

ALL we to do is write a NZ Detective thriller/horror script. (with flash-backs to a SP past)  :)

Mr Mercury. Nz  is a Steampunk nation.  Filled with frightening creatures and back woods small towns. The Taranaki  would make an inspiring setting  and an alluring back drop.

Banfili

Hurricane, pardon my ignorance, but is that the volcanic black sands and the area around New Plymouth?

Not that I had to look  it up or anything ... Yes Banfili the Taranaki iron sands are volcanic

https://www.ttrl.co.nz/iron-sands/

There is major controversy around the mining of said sand. Now if it was a republic...

Now I want to watch that movie.

Its eerily familiar to another Sam Neil classic. It's about a totalitarian government hunting him down in the NZ landscape. Sleeping Dogs.

Its still an excellent watch

An old mate of mine long ago was the true Count of Hibblesvania, Kount Kristoff de Kracked also known as Kount Kristoff the Brown when in trouble.

Hibblesvania is a small province of the Empire which worships the Golden Swine of Hibble and whose chief economic activities are brewing and pig-farming. There is an embassy and a church for the national religion.

It has a facebook page and a national anthem which I happen to know by heart. It goes something like this, sung to the tune we all know, the Red Flag:

Our leader is of great renown,
They call him Count Kristoff the Brown
He's way ahead, he's way up front,
and we all think he's a real - count

We're the favourites of the brewery
When you hear us shout Yarboozi!
Glass or barrel we will drain ya,
We are the swine of Hibblesvania.

We're in the bar until the bell,
And we will drink off-sales as well
Rivers, Rivers, think of this,
Rivers of ale, means rivers of... liquid.

Chorus:
We're the favourites of the brewery
When you hear us shout Yarboozi!
Glass or barrel we will drain ya,
We are the swine of Hibblevania.

On the left Count Kristoff the Brown.

There is also a part 3 but after watching part II you've probably had quite enough of Hibblesvania's cultural achievements.
