Works from Germany using Tor Browser but is awfully slow.

A forum needs a working admin team.
Over on Spare Goggles I posted a link to this TechRadar article on free VPNs; maybe one of them would be faster. The difference is that most VPNs protect your privacy by encrypting all your network traffic between your client and their endpoint server; Tor also tries to protect your anonymity by bouncing your traffic between multiple endpoints to obfuscate your location. This extra bouncing, of course, takes extra time.

I still have no idea what has changed so the foeum is not accessible the normal way any more.
Any answer from the admin team?
If brute force does not work....you´re not using enough of it.

Sorontar

If it is an issue with the host, then it could have been that they responded to attacks on multiple of their servers (which may have somehow disguised its true sources or hijacked machines from certain ISPs or countries), or they changed which list of bad addresses they used. It is always hard to know.

I use the chrome browser extension Hotspot Shield Free

- I don't pay money
- when it works, I don't notice any delays
- the only thing is that sometimes you have to enable or disable the extension several times to load the site. I understand that I'm not catching a European IP. Perhaps it is somehow chosen. But I don't know English, it's easier for me.
Sorry for the errors, rudeness and stupidity. It's not me, this online translator. Really convenient?

SeVeNeVeS

Sorry to keep banging on but the forum can be very slow for me sometimes, click on a post and am left hanging, usually a refresh sorts it out.

Any news from Proteus yet?

James Harrison

He hasn't replied to either of my initial PM's yet.
Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

The Bullet

Still only accessible using TOR browser.
All the others are timed out.

Where are the admins?

Sorry to say this. But without Proteus all of this is just an academic discussion.

To Mr. Bullet: again, the issue is with the hosting service that Proteus uses. They own the servers where Brassgoggles resides in. Think of Brassgoggles as a cellular phone network, you don't have one single antenna for all phones in the world, right? Same with brassgoggles.co.uk, there's multiple copies of it spread around the world in different machines. The one that serves your section of Europe is "not working" for whatever reason. Proteus must complain to the hosting service owner. Not really under control of the administration, other than to let Proteus know the hosting service is failing.

The Bullet

Thanks for the clarification.

Once someone gets hold of Proteus we should establish a team of folks to take care of future similar events.
This "one person knows and does all" is a difficult/dangerous way of running something.

Indeed.

As for the time being, Tor might be too slow for you, because Tor jumps from a set of 3 random servers around the world and the signal is encrypted. Now, I've never done a VPN, but that should be much less involved than the communication process of Tor, hence faster. Basically you'd be accessing a local network in another country that has communication with another brassgoggles.co.uk server.

The Bullet

How is the status?

I still can only access BG using TOR browser (slow).
Has anyone taken any action?
Was the master found?

I use - Hotspot Shield Free. I found out that I should choose a Dutch server.

Take a look at this thread. It's self explanatory

The Bullet

Still the only way to access BG is Tor Browser.

Is anyone working on that issue?

Over on sparegoggles kieth beef posted this, a few days ago..... Have no clue what it all means but could be of use, maybe, to key keepers.  :-\

I was unable to access the forum for many months while living in Spain.

Now that I'm back in the Netherlands, I'm able to visit again.

The Bullet

On my side the problem still exists.

No browser except for TOR will access BG.

Have you tried using extensions to the Chrome browser?

Of course, this is also a crutch, but it can be more convenient.

I am currently using Browsec VPN

The current plan is to move to a new host in the next month or so. Once that's done I hope you'll have access.

Also, we may be forced to change DNS names as part of the move, so bookmark brassgoggles.net just to be safe.
