"The McCallum Collection comprises over 18,000 photographic images mainly created between 1857 and 1960 taken in the south west of Victoria."

Not all the photos are dated but the ones I looked at a quite decent quality. These may be good for those aftyer inspiration or researching Australian working clothing and conditions in the 1800s.

I couldn't work out how you are supposed to look at the photos... Every link I clicked on, every search word I tried came up with nothing. What magic button am I missing?

  • Click on [search the collection]
  • Type your search term into the [Any word] [Keyword] textbox, e.g. 'steam' or 'engine'
  • Click on any photo you are interested in
  • To see the photo better and without the watermark, click on the photograph to load it a new window so that you can zoom in/out. Please note: the screen will turn black while the photograph loads and it may take a few seconds. I don't know how to zoom out (though a mouse scroll wheel might do it). Going back in your browser will take you back to the page with the watermarked photo.

Hope that helps.
