Update on the project:

• The automation to turn the lights on when I come home late does not work; I need to research presence detection.
• I have confirmed that the new sump pump has been running. (I installed a smart plug with the ability to report power consumption, and checked the power consumption during a recent rainfall.)

Next exercise: set up InfluxDB (a time-series database) and Grafana (a time-series data visualisation tool) to give me a better dashboard display of exactly what's happening.

Quick update: The leak detectors in both laundry rooms are set to power off their respective washing machines in case of a leak. I also have all the kitchen and dining room lights hooked up.

Latest snag: I want to put a smart dimmer switch on my bedroom light so I can program it to work as a sunrise lamp, but the current switch is wired wrong to support that. The switch is end-of-loop, and I need it to be middle-of-loop so the switch can draw its own power. Time to look for an electrician.
