My question............Is this forum finally dead?

No one seems to reply to posts these days, although I often see members log on twice a day. IF we are dead please let me know so I can move on, some Mods/ governors haven't logged in for years, current "active" members say nothing. I'm slightly pissed off with you all to be honest.

What is the point any more? I do try to be enthusiastic to new members but..... PLEASE convince me this is a minor 6 month glitch......

Won't be holding my breath

I'll check back in a year for any replies. ::)  ::)

There's a military fiction forum I'm a member of that can and sometimes will go months without new material.  But when something new does land, it comes back to life.

I typically struggle to find things to talk about other than various projects I'm involved with, and of those one I'm lucky if I can update once every three months and the other would bankrupt and kill me if I spent more than half the year on it.  And I'm not the sort of person to comment on other people's work unless I have something more productive to say than simply, 'nice'.

I'm sure if/when Facebook and Twitter implode the place will liven up again but until then...
Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

How dare you think that you have any right to be "pissed" at everyone here.

No one here owes you or anyone else here anything. This is a free forum. There is no guaranteed level of frequency of entertainment or feedback. The few that try to keep things going whether through technical operations or content do so when they have time and something to contribute, and do so for free.

It would be great if there was more activity, but real life takes priority for most people. That's just the reality of it.

I, personally, only sign in and say something when I have time and something to say.

Not everyone eats, breathes and sleeps on this forum.

Only you can decide if the forum is "dead" or unworthy of your time.
Have you never wondered what it would be like to walk between the ticks and tocks of Time?

Sadly, the large social networks have taken all the traffic away from the old message forums, just as the message forums took all the traffic away from Usenet. But Usenet and the forums still exist, and the die-hards will still check in and keep them alive.

I know things are rather quiet as things stand, however I suspect that's because of the way social media (particularly Facebook and this clock app thingamie) have come to dominate online spaces and emerge as the erchins' favoured method for finding like minded people and they're simply not doing the digging that would bring them to our venerable halls here.

Also, the community seems to have become somewhat fragmented and is getting increasingly cliquey as Steampunk has reached a great enough level of awareness that people aren't proselytising in the same way as they were a decade ago and seems to have attracted a lot more of the Pikedevant ("just glue some gears on it") types.

That said, I don't really tend to have all that much to say and am happy enough lurking in a dark corner....
I made a note in my diary on the way over here. Simply says; "Bugger!"

"DON'T THINK OF IT AS DYING, JUST THINK OF IT AS LEAVING EARLY TO AVOID THE RUSH."

I'm still here. I don't post much but I am busy at present.

A simple one word or sentence reply or a click on a like would suffice to encourage more of the same.

Hmmm..... Justin..... I see you edited. You have not been the only person to go through a shit time, the last 15 months have not been a bag of fun and jollies for me either. Daily trips to the hospital to only watch your beloved one fade away and finally pass.

I am really sorry to hear of your wife's current condition, and my heart truly  goes out to you in the best possible way.

If you wouldn't mind, may I point out the amount of time it took to type your very eloquent, possibly the best retort/riposte I have ever read here, you could have just maybe replied to every new post in the last 6 months.

Edit... I decided to let fate decide. Toss af a coin, best of three... Post or not to post anymore.  Result.... POST so you poor buggers will have to endure more of my random ramblings and rants.
