I subject that came up on my facebook feed: What foods are still sold in metal tins with reclosable metal lids?

There used to be a lot of cookies and chips in tins at Asian grocery stores in America, but I don't recall seeing much lately, though I haven't really been looking.

I think this subject is germane to steampunk, especially in regard to foods, crafts, and costuming.

A lot of the tins are special occasion or tourist pieces.  Rogers still sells chocolates in some really nice art tins.

I've seen museum shops selling reproduction tins, usually containing fudge or biscuits. Petrol stations sometimes sell tins of 'travel sweets' - boiled fruit sweets with a thin coating of icing sugar to stop them sticking together, guaranteed to break teeth if you try and crunch them! (Or choke you if you are actually travelling and have to brake suddenly 😂😂😂) And the icing sugar tends to drift out onto any nearby surface every time the tin is opened, a bit like turkish delight!
You have to tread a fine line between avant-garde surrealism and getting yourself sectioned...

Reclosable lids are rare. As a kid I used to reuse Strepsils throat lozenges containers as storage containers, but most modern food is in a can and once the top is removed, it goes in the recycling bin. There might be some jam jars with screwable lids but normally glass jars are favoured.

I bought a very large, resealable tin of soda crackers last year. Pepperidge Farm (pronounced Pep-ridge Faaahm ;) ) Pirouettes (and other brands) come tins as well.

Seems like cookies, crackers, candies and RTE popcorn for the most part.
Have you never wondered what it would be like to walk between the ticks and tocks of Time?

I've seen little tins like that used to house electric projects.
