I usually get that - the exception is with a couple of the cats very close to where I live, and I think they've unfortunately learnt to be very wary of any humans (probably the same reasons why, when we had cats, they were indoors cats).

The Siamese from the house behind ours doesn't want to know me for some reason. Think it must be the legendary attitude problem of the breed. If you're going to be encamped in our garage then at least be friendly towards us!
