Kidney stones.

That is all.

EDIT: Okay, turns out that's not all. Got a text from my dad.

His dad--my last surviving grandparent--and what's more, a Provo, a man that I respect DEEPLY--is in palliative care. He may not last the weekend. I'm going to see him tomorrow. I had hoped that...

I had hoped that I'd be able to tell him some of my stories, but... due to the doctors fucking up, he uh... he won't remember who I am while I'm there. He doesn't even remember my uncle--whom he lives with.

I cannot stress enough how deeply this... How gutted.. how...

A part of the reason I survived Sudan was, I feel, this man's genetics. His presence looms large in my life.

He spent 8 years in the Long Kesh.

I just...

I'm in physical pain from the kidney stones. I'm in emotional pain from this.

I can't take much more of this. I genuinely, truthfully do not know how much more I can take.

We like creativity and originality of all sorts here! Who knows what strange mechanical contraptions the Imperial[1] army may face or produce at any time.

I've not been doing too much steampunk stuff since I moved out to go to uni. I have, however, picked up another rather time consuming hobby: Warhammer.
though I am rather unconcerned with the tabletop game at all, I am finding great joy engaging with the lore as well as assembling and painting the minis.
and I figured, why not show them off?

Very nice. Brings back memories of when my eyes could actually focus on small things like that.

By the way, you mentioned about this not being Steampunk. I'm not sure if you've seen the new forum section "Fine Arts." It's a section meant for members' own works (as opposed to posting other people's works), and it's not beholden to Steampunk topics. It's mostly for your own work (Architecture, painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, etc). It was created so as to showcase our members activities outside of the forum

AH! I will be honest, i assumed the fine arts section was supposed to be steampunk only also (but like, 2d instead of 3d i suppose?) I must have misunderstood!

Thanks all! Getting the hang of the tiny scale was definitely a challenge for me as well.
Quote from: von Corax on May 10, 2025, 11:51:20 AMVery nice. From what I know of Warhammer, some of it is not entirely unsteamly.
I would agree :) there is an army in the warhammer Age of Sigmar game that the fans lovingly call "steampunk dwarves"

(picture clearly not mine)
Sadly, because of their airships, they're a pretty pricey army to collect, and a tedious one to paint without an airbrush!

Quote from: Sorontar on May 10, 2025, 08:27:43 AMWOTC is going to be releasing a new book Eberron: Forge of the Artificer (2025), so if you aren't avoiding 5e D&D that might be a steampunk fantasy option. However, you might need to change the magic into a more steamy form of power.

Oh that is interesting! I might try to get that... I do love artificers.
