Portrayal / Re: Homecoming
Last post by MWBailey - May 06, 2025, 09:17:03 AM
Dreyfuss, Captain Ishmael (and everybody else, just about, who was not hanging onto a support bannister or other fixed part of the St Elmo whbn the Beau Rosin made its entirely too-close entry into Real Space) swore as the
Elmo
reacted suddenly and violently  to Mad Jack's ship's travelling field. Jack had gone ahead and thrown the lever on the Chronojammer, just in case the smaller ship popped out too close to a mountain or a building. It did as he intended, keeping the Beau Rosin from ramming through the topside starboard ebvelope deck of the St. Elmo;, but nonetheless forced the larger ship suddenly downwards and almost instantaneously to the oblique of Port.

The squawkbox rang out with the Ship's Doctor's voice demanding to know which hungover cadet was piloting the bigger ship this time, just as Capt.Ishmael politely -yet rather hotly- responded to Beau Rosin's haranguimg Master.

Dreyfuss rolled his eyes and picked up the secondary handset of the aetherphome, and said. "Well boy howdy Jack, its hard enough for 'em t' steer without lunatic scow jockeys rammin' us straight outta between space!"

Both men's drawled Texian argumentation fought for dominance over the aetherwaves for a few minutes...

Quote from: yereverluvinunclebert on May 05, 2025, 07:37:16 PMIt seems that the majority of us no longer have desktops... probably phones or tablets with amorphous corporate interfaces. So sad...  :'(

Agreed, most people appear to wander around with a phone permantly, almost surgically attached to their hand these days.

Just for your info a few of your widgets have stopped working for me after Doz 11 updates.

Quote from: rovingjack on May 03, 2025, 10:10:42 PMI went outside for a walk late afternoon may 1st. went to bed early morning. woke mid afternoon. thought I had a scratch on the back of my thigh.by midnight it had been sensitive every time I used the toilet or otherwise rubbed the spot so I used a mirror and discovered an imbedded deer tick (black legged tick). Frantic and shaky hands with tweezers broke it leaving the head deeply in my skin. a trip to the ER and 2 hours wait they pulled it out. 12 hours since feeling the injury, about 30 hours after I likely picked it up. They gave me a dose of doxycycline and sent me home to watch for signs of Lyme.

got home, washed bedding and clothes, showered, checked myself 3 times. made a sandwich. tried to calm the panic attacks. noticed a splotch on last bite and then the rest of the bag of bread i'd bought 3 days ago was riddled with mold.

can't sleep, shaking, panic attacks.
I hope that things have calmed down and that you're recovering. And sleeping again.

Yes it is!
It's been some tumultuous years, but with my dissertation handed in it seems like clearer waters are ahead!

Congratulations!

Thanks to a recent seizure (I have atypical epilepsy) my brain is still a bit mushy and my memory foggy and now I don't remember if I'd already received my new bank card and just misplaced it somewhere or if I hadn't received it yet. I turned my entire place around and hadn't found anything. Checked my e-mails and all, same. Zilch. I think I'm going mad.

I always assumed that harpoons were the weapon of choice against air krakens, reel them in and make skycalimari.

I also heard that certain sounds can ward them off...that might just have been said by someone who really didn't like the onboard piper

Hello, hello.
I don't think i've been around since the migration. place is looking good. I saw the Wiki tab and someone mentionning the wiki in a thread... anyway. I clicked it and was met with an error, so I figured i'd let you know :)
