the blood pressure cuff I pulled out of storage and replaced the batteries on is throwing weird readings. 3 doc visits in the last 3 months have me in the 117/76 range as it's been for years. but I overheated the other day and since then my fingernails on were white with red crescent at the top. most returned to normal the last few days, except after washing dishes, they all turn white for a bit. but two on my left hand have remained white. and since I've had some ulnar nerve buzzing in both arms at night for months I'd have no clue if I was having arm pain...
so pulled the cuff out, replaced batteries, struggle with weak shaky hands (another issue i've had for almost a year now), and it tells me 136/87. well that disconcerting but go to bed, test in the morning 134/88. not liking it try before dinner 145/89. try again 131/84. try other arm 128/78. WTF. eat dinner wash up, try left arm, 151/87, right arm 118/76. left 134/83, right 151/81. left 128/83.

there is something wrong with one of us, and since I can still hold my breath for two minutes, have no sharp or persistent pain or numbness currently, no headache... I'm going to bed and have a doc visits tomorrow after group therapy.

if I don't wake up- this was one of my comfort spaces in the world. hope it's a good dream.

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm J.M. Sattler: startup executive by day, chronicler of steam and shadow by night. I hail from the sunlit islands of Hawai'i, but my heart has long been drawn to the soot-streaked skylines and brass-bound corridors of a world not quite our own.

By trade, I've built ventures and guided founders through the perils of invention. But in the realm of the Steamlands - a world of my imagination but in many ways more real than our own - I trade silicon for steam, algorithms for adventure. I write stories set in a world where progress creaks on clockwork limbs, and danger hovers just above the skyline in an airship's silhouette.

Within my pages you'll find rogues, automatons, and archivists burdened with secrets too dangerous to name. If you fancy tales of loyalty, treachery, invention, and rebellion, a whiff of soot and a spark of revolution, or any number of thoughtfully-considered perspectives on the confluence of technology and human society, I am your humble servant.

I'm looking forward to winding the mainspring and setting these works in motion!

Welcome to the Forum, Mr. Sattler, It's interesting to hear your story, as more than one of us at Brassgoggles are or have been in the technology, galvanic or calculation engine trades in some way.

Coincidentally you'll be the second member to reside in the Kingdom of Hawai'i

You'll notice that the Forum is divided in sections; Textual, for the tall tales, Tactile for those inclined to build things, Anatomical for those interested in sartorial matters, Aural Ocular for discussions on music and videos, and an Off Topic chapter for discussing non Steampunk matters.

On top of that, we've recently added a new section in the main Chapter entitled Fine Arts, reserved for works, Steampunk or not, in the Classical Arts (painting, sculpture, music, dance, architecture) that our own members produce (as opposed to obtaining from the Internet), as we noted that as a community we are a creative group, and tend to share our personal interests outside of Brassgoggles.  Traditionally we left that kind of Off Topic discussion scattered all over the Forum, but it made following one another's creative endeavours rather difficult over time, hence the new section.

I'm looking forward to reading your work!

I remain at your service,

Adm. Johannes Wilhelm
United States Airship Command.

I have turned them all off and greenlisted brassgoggles in my browser for popups etc (even gave it permission to use my mic and such)

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I saw him yesterday. It was... It was rough. He's so far gone he didn't know who anyone present was.

My uncle said he'd been unresponsive to most everyone for several days at that point, as well.

I sat holding his hand for a bit, didn't even get a squeeze out of it.

At the end of the visit, my last words I'd decided at that point were gonna be "Tiocfaidh ár lá." He turned his head towards me, smiled, and gave my hand a squeeze. I don't know if he knows who I was, but my uncle said it was the first reaction he'd given anyone in days.

He goes to Hospice House tomorrow, for end-of-life care.

Also, was nice to reconnect with my uncle. Haven't seen him in 30 years. Turns out we're basically the same person. Same interests in music, books, movies, and games. That's how we kept each other sane through the visit, talking about all that, reconnecting, and setting up a jam session soon.

Also turns out he's not just a gamer--but he's a game modder for Skyrim/Fallout New Vegas, for some of the mods I can't play without. Small freakin' world, I tell ya. Small freakin' world.

I'm... I'm tired. I'm sad. But it seems like there's always some light in the dark.

some time in the last few weeks while I was distracted by the realization of my tick phobia, the dose off doxycycline, and nearly fainting in the heatwave we've just had, amidst the tremors, inability to get my hands to perform certain actions, pain from some actions and weakness in others... the bottom 2/3 of my nails turned white with a red brown arch between white and pink areas... I hear this could be signs of severe damage to kidneys, liver or heart; possibly developing diabetes.

after the freak out, and scheduling a doc visit in 5 days, my mind kicks up the thought 'well if we handle the new disability sloppy enough we wont have to struggle through a long drawn out decline'

I'm so tired of the burdens. but Im too chicken to really go that route.

there's also the suggestion that my pain and weakness could be a pinched nerve or herniated disk in my neck, while other symptoms could be FND. and maybe the nails are just benign ideopathic or reversible.

but we've all seen my luck with health. odds are it will not be as easy or neat as any of those choices.
