Bought an old rusty beam pump and restored it to working condition. Just welded the final piece for the base.
Painting today, assembly tomorrow, I hope.

subsequent visits having to be done one at a time, but....

next in office blood pressure done, by same nurse, 104/81.

blood tests done- liver and kidneys seem normal enough, only high numbers are MCV which is 95 (technically still below 100 which is the cutoff for macrocytic anemia).
I was a bit worried what my fasting blood sugar would be since it's been between 101 and 107 3 out of 4 times in the last 2 years and i've been breaking fast for months with frosted mini wheats, and having banana bread muffins. But that came back as 89.

get a referral to Ortho via urgent care doc for tick bite a couple weeks ago, set appointment for June 5th.
dermatology (my primary decided that's who to about the nails going white) set an appointment for late September. whatever, they will either resolve or the actual cause will reveal itself before then;least I can get some eyes on a couple newer or bigger 'freckles' between my toes and raised red marks on my shoulder and finger that I've had for a few years.

Neuro got pissy in a reply message that neck and shoulder pain are not his responsibility.

Next visit- today get to show limited range of motion, get a the okay to find physical therapist. I said I'd like to know what's causing the issue. He sends me to x-ray, saying he'll send a letter if x-ray results are showing anything I need to talk to him about.

go to xray. left shoulder and neck scanned, told they'll likely get back to me after the long weekend.

Im in the middle of lugging a microwave to my car, for crafting purposes, and my phone rings. don't get to pick it up. so wait til I'm back at the apartment. It was a message from the Docs office, which is now closed. go to the website, look up appointment summary and notes in my file...

Thoracic scoliosis,
Type 2 shoulder with increased tendency toward impingement,
Narrowing at C5-6 and C6-7.
Right osseous neural foraminal narrowing most notable at C6-7. No left osseous foraminal narrowing.
Soft tissues of the neck demonstrate calcifications on the left, presumed vascular.

sooo,so the weakness and limited motor function of my hands and arms for the last 2.5 years may be either herniated disks or pinched nerves.

not a fan of the reminder about that ticking stroke bomb in my carotid, but it is what it is.

Congratulations, Caledonian!

I succeeded in getting my washing machine to ping my phone when it finished. The dryer will take a bit more work.

No funeral for grandad.

Family says "he's not worth it."

Well now.  I've gone and got myself (or rather some of my models) invited to participate in a hobbies exhibition in Wolverhampton between July and October.  I'm not going to try and monopolise the show - I'm only sending about six models in - but I've got to try and find the time to spruce them up and get them public-show ready before then.

Incidentally, I've always envisaged RLS as being resolutely a stay-at-home affair, so if anybody wants to see a few of my models in the metal (and plastic), this is quite likely to be one of your only chances.

Well, this isn't good.  Two weeks and no go.

Yes, but I have a valid reason excuse.

Excuse #1 is that my employer has got a sort of challenge going to improve physical fitness through the month of May.  In my office, that's become a sort of friendly rivalry.  So time spent traipsing around trying to win at that, is time not spent working on the house.

Excuse #2 is that I've been asked to exhibit some of my toy trains in an exhibition over the Summer, so when I'm not indulging in 20km death hikes, I'm trying to spruce up and finish off various models in preparation for that.

But come July... come July... the house will have my full attention again.

Wow! Fifteen years, two weeks and four days... that might just be a record for thread necromancy around here.

Indeed, welcome to the Brass Goggles, Mr Sattler. May your words of wit, knowledge and experience be heard and may you enjoy those of others.

What a fascinating find! Calling cards really were the social currency of their time—equal parts etiquette, identity, and sometimes a bit of subtle intrigue. The idea of "dropping a card" definitely feels like the 19th-century version of texting "just saying hi." And you're right—those printed florals on cards like Laura's probably mirrored the trends of the day before fading in favor of more minimalist styles.

Speaking of stylish statements, if you love the charm of vintage personalization, a custom neon signs [link removed] could be a fun modern twist! Imagine your name (or even "Miss Mabel Osborne, Tuesdays 3 to 6") glowing in a soft script—perfect for a cozy nook or creative space. Let me know if you'd like help designing one!
