Okay so a little update: we have snakes and bellydancing as part of the line up...
Just under 2 months away now. I'll be involved to some degree, as will Ghostfire & Birthrite.
Shaping up to be another good one
Photos from last year's can be found on my website http://www.steampunkdj.co.uk/gallery-2.html (http://www.steampunkdj.co.uk/gallery-2.html)
Lovely photos - thanks for posting the link to them! Yes, we are quite excited about this one - there will be sooo much going on!
You're welcome. Looking forward to it.
This coming weekend folks!
Tried to get there today but something happened and there were huge delays on the M1 and M25, so I didn't make it.
I hope all those that did make it had a good time.
Yes, the Dead Victorians got delayed in that.
It was a great weekend, shame you missed it.
Rough photos are up on my Facebook page (Steampunkdj.co.uk) Good quality ones from the decent camera will be posted once I've sorted through them
I was thinking, as I sometimes do. I have run a couple of workshops on modify your hat and modify your mask over the years. How about a change of emphasis and next time let's have a show and tell. People bring along something they are particularly proud of making and we admire and ask questions about how it was made. Say 5-10 minutes per item.
We could have modified footwear, how I made my gun, my belt is special because. That sort of thing. It would need people to be willing to turn up and join in.
What do you think?

The August version of this event is this coming weekend. Same details as above & as ever, Steampunkdj.co.uk will be providing the musical background to the weekend.

Common sense kept me off the big one.

Best described as "different" I think.

Teapot racing...yes, definitely different! The Battle Croquet was also incredibly good fun. I think we must do that again - actually next week at the Brighton Costume Games! Sun 20th, the Old Steine Gardens...
Hope you will be running more events in 2016
I live in Hertfordshire and l am new to all this but very keen to get involved

Indeed we will be running more events, and you'd be most welcome to come! We have a very special Nonsuch Christmas Gathering on December 19th 2015, and two Surrey Steampunk Convivials for 2016: Feb 20th and 21st - and July 30th and 31st (which also happen to be my birthday bash!) It'd be great to see you!
Thankyou
I will do my best to attend
It will be lovely to see you there!
I'm certainly looking forward to attending furture Surrey Steampunk Convivials as and when I can (I live in Brum and depend on public transport, so it'll probably have to be a once a year thing for me). The one I attended some weeks ago was utterly splendid, I was astonished at the variety and quality of the events given it was all held in a single pub! It's just a shame that I wasn't able to attend the Saturday as well as the Sunday. Jolly well done to all involved in staging such a magnificent event!
Thank you kindly! I am glad you enjoyed it - I hope you made it over to the church as well, Esme? We tend to spread things out over there on the Saturdays. So looking forward to next year - we might have to do something for the unveiling of The Cavorite Sphere and the Time machine in September as well, I reckon...

I take it you missed this bit Ben

Count me in if I'm available.
Ah yes, I really must get my goggles cleaned - I did indeed miss that bit, Sir! Thank you for pointing out the inadequacy of my optics. I've just been to eBay and bought new frames as a result!
The first of this year's events is this coming weekend (20th & 21st Feb, other details as above)
Some of the things going on include:
" Just to mention a few things that will be happening at this extraordinarily raggle taggle and utterly hatstand event, there may well be: Umbrella fencing, Ostrich Racing, Splendid Teapot Racing, the Fling-a-Familiar Bazooka, Rubbish Football, Snail Racing, Battle Croquet, Tea duelling, an origami workshop, talks, exhibitions, dancing and music - including Kiss Like Ether, Ghostfire, Victor and the Bully, Professor Verymental (yes, the first Steampunk Tribute act!) morris dancing, Reversible Percival, Catherine Paver, Moth, Mia and the Moon, Livia Pye, Spriggan Mist, Dr. Slideshow, Guy Padfield's autoharps, the wonderful Steampunk DJ...and much, much more... "
Full itinerary expected some time tomorrow.
Sadly I won't have some of the elements for the new look Steampunk DJ set up in time for this one, but those of you that have been before are sure to recognise the original Steampunk DJ booth & curtains in it's usual place in the corner of the function room.
Photos from the event are now up on my Facebook page (set to public so all should be able to see them), more on my website in due course.

...and on to the next! Well, the next Convivial appears to fall squarely on my birthday - July 30th and 31st 2016. Tickets are on sale now - with a handful of earlybird tickets up for grabs. The Convivial will be held at The Royal Oak and Christchurch in New Malden, as before.
We already have some wonderful music lined up, and lots of dancing! There is mention of enlisting a kazoo orchestra to create the live score to some super storytelling, fire dancing, head stocking bowling...gosh. So much going on! Details will slowly be appearing on the official website: http://www.harpsfest.com (http://www.harpsfest.com)
2 months to go & having seen the list of attractions, I wonder how we'll fit it all in.
