It's not so bad.  At least, Portland isn't.

Yeah, hehe. It's not bad at all. I just have a few bad memories about Oregon in general, that's all. ;D

Portland has ONE redeeming feature: Mr Burger. assuming it is still there. It was 12 years ago.

I am officially jealous.

Miss Nefthys is getting all the interesting mail in our box these days, from her many fine pen pals, while I'm stuck with cellular communication device bills.

Jealousy clashes with all of my nicest outfits.  The only solution is to commandeer a letter-writing personage of my own.

To that end:
I'm a twenty-five year old female with an art degree in ceramics and a boring day job.  (You would think that getting dressed up at a historical park would be more interesting, but I'm stuck at the retail end of things, which is boring in any century.)  I live in Alberta, Canada, and don't mind writing to far-off places so long as those places aren't too critical of my handwriting.  My hobbies are all of the usual things: art, reading, fantasy, writing, science fiction, Dungeons and Dragons, computer games, recreational lying, magic, dressing up, dressing the cats up, wandering the internet, etc.
My persona lives in the crow's nest of Miss Nefthys' air ship, the Odonata, where one can drink a lot of tea and keep a look-out for undesirables.

Emiline

I am completely new to this genre, so one who is willing to be my pen-pal must be patient with my lack of knowledge.

I am a female, 28, US west coast
looking for
Male or Female, near my age, from any location

If persons interested would send me a personal message, that would be very obliging.

To whom it may concern,

My oldest pen pal—whom I now believe to be my deadest—after eighteen months of no replies needs replacing. Of course I hope Akira is not dead nor is he dead to me as a friend. Simply put he is no longer in the habit of writing and I will now take action by requesting a new pen pal. Albeit Steampunk is not a new concept to me I am new to the community. I love to build things, find things and mend things. I like to darn old socks, take photographs, write short stories, make stop motion animation and I love to design new things. I am a graphic designer by profession.

I am a 31 year old male. I reside in a dark and secluded Victorian estate on the West Coast of the Americas. I prefer my correspondence to be with someone—male or female and close to my age—in the UK as I intend to write many short stories based in the UK and may find it helpful to have someone who knows the lay of the land better than myself.

I have great interest in finding a pen pal that may have some desire to create stop motion animations, short films and/or co-write short stories.

In closing if you happen to be in Kakamigahara City, Japan and you run into a fellow dubbed Akira Fuji please extend my most heartfelt wishes of happiness that he is yet among living.

thank you for your time.

Best,

T. M. Grey

This certainly sounds like a fantastic idea - not to mention it would be nice to open my mailbox every once in a while and find something other than bills and the subscriptions of previous tenants.

So, I'm a 21 year old gal residing in central Texas who will soon be graduating from university with an Anthropology degree (basically majored in procrastination, minored in Being A Band Nerd).
My primary obsession is books - I am fully incapable of leaving a bookstore without buying one.

I'm pretty dang new to SP but that's not going to stop me from plunging in headfirst while thoroughly enjoying myself.

Send me a PM if you'd like to liven up your box of snail mail. ^_^

Cogs, so many very interesting new sign ups.  If I weren't up to my eyeballs in correspondence, I'd write to all of you.

As a casual stamp collector, this sounds like lots of fun.

Since I am the world's worst at replying to anything, from e-mails to pm's to facebook pokes to people across the table from me, I can't guarantee much more than a note, drawing and a happy thought from my end, but I would really love to collect a list of addresses all over the place and send out a bunch of nice notes with interesting stamps in hopes that the favor would be returned.
Anyone up for this? :)
If so, PM me your address!

Philately: stamp-collecting

Kaljaia, you sound like you'd be ripe for postcrossing.com  (seriously)  And/or a BG post card exchange, which I've been working on, but haven't quite worked out all the bugs.

A capital idea!

I'd love in on this. Email is my preference. Anybody, anywhere will do.

I'm old enough to drive, but not old enough to vote. Living in Canada. I'm interested in reading, writing, gaming on the computer or the table, mythology and learning new languages. Aside from English I speak French and am learning Spanish. I like cats and eldritch horror. If an extended conversion by Aethric Courriel is appealing, pm me.

MissBelaqua

I'll be sending out a couple of PMs in a inute but thought I'd throw my hat into the ring-

Hi! I'm Lily, 18 y/o university student of literature- What's that you say? An excuse to stay stuck in a book for three years? Never! -living in the midlands but originally hailing from lancashire. I'd be happy to exchange snail mail with anyone in another country- get some cross country discussion going on.
I'm interested in books (yum yum), film, costume design (mostly admiring, a little crafting), geek culture (doctor who, star trek, discworld, sciency stuff), music (mostly rock and indie, but i have eclectic tastes), fashion and trawling the web looking for interesting and beautiful things to admire and be inspired by.
Age and gender don't really matter to me!

Send me a PM if you're interested :)

ClockworkToffer

Ahoy there! I am absolutely enthralled by this idea! I truly hope my generic post may garner a PM or two!

C.T. here, looking for a penpal of any age, from any region, gender does not matter... simply a chatting partner who enjoys the beautiful, dying art of letter writing. I am a twenty year old (to be twenty-one in eighteen days) university student studying history and gender studies. My interests range from radical queer politics to picking flowers and making daisy chains. My historical interests lie in Victorian England and in pornography and obscenity throughout the ages. I love photography and art, visiting museums, dinosaurs, the idea of radical politics seeping into general practice, and imagination. Letter writing is fun for me, and I particularly like my handwriting. An exchange of this kind would be most delightful.

My persona, which is another deep facet of myself, is a lady distinctly interested in pleasure and mischief, of questioning certain rules and debating the reasons for others. While working on airships and playing in the boy's club, C.T. indulges in fantasy, baiting for others to share their secrets- their deepest desires (both in the grandiose & abstract to the physical). Life is just starting as she continuously jumps from ship to ship, doing whatever necessary to help the current crew. It is not that she is against settling, but she has yet to find the band of pirates- or the Captain- that will cause her to not settle-down (she will never settle-down) but will give her a sense of permanence.

Perhaps? We shall see.

No, No, I meant back and forth via email rather than Land mail. I cannot give out my adress.

I very much like the idea of pen-palling

In persona, or as ourselves I do not mind.
Via email or post.. again, I do not mind.

Anywhere in the world is fine with me.

I'm 25, female from Surrey UK.
Will pen-pal with male or female, any age.

Feel free to message me. :)
Excuse me, I have to recharge my flamethrower.

Ophelia

I find very good idea of pen pal .who wants to write me  I was delighted just that ..but.. I'm at the other end of the world XD

I would absolutely love to have one or more penpals of a steampunk disposition. I will likely write mainly in persona, and you can expect steampunk-style mailart, from sealing wax to fake airship postage stamps. I'm in the eastern half of the United States at the moment, but I will send mail anywhere in the world. Message me to exchange addresses.

I would find it very enjoyable to be your pen pal if you don't mind a 40yr old gent writing at odd times based on his hectic schedule of work and schooling in metallurgy and structural fusion of metals.  If you like it can be in persona or not and by email or postal mail if the expense of postage and paper is not a concern.

I will happily pen-pal, in persona or not. The only people I see on a daily basis for most of the year are at school so it would  be nice to have a change!!

I'm 23, female, and living in the Eastern United States. Will be happy to write in persona or real life. Any age or gender is welcome and I'm fine with mailing international as well as locally ((within the US)), but If you'd like to be email pen pals, I can do that too. :)
