Another lurker here, I'm Ian from the depths of Yorkshire (wakefield/pontefract way), been interested in Steampunk for around the last year but as always I've had too much on to really get into it. Finally have a little time in hobby schedules and interested in learning some leather and metal working (something I've wanted to do for about the last 10 years). Happy to learn new crafts and meet people.

My Wife and I are taking our first steps into the scene and have already booked tickets to The Asylum in Lincoln next month.

Just gotta figure out how to make 2 costumes on a budget within a month...

I have seen a couple of posts mentioning Leicester as there was, at one time, an idea of running an event at the Space Centre, but nothing seems to have been mentioned since.  If there are other Steampunk people in Leicester/shire perhaps we could get together for a cup of tea?

Not unknown at all - I occasionally go shopping in Leicester for shiny things!  If you do arrange a meet in Leicester, do post the details on BG, and if it's on a Saturday and I can get along, I will.  In any case, welcome!

that seems like a reasonable explanation to me! Anyways- I have been moderately into Steampunkery and suchlike for many years, but have only just started making specifically Steampunk costume for Lrp and stuff. We shall be at the asylum for the saturday, look out for a Stiltwalker if you want to say hi!

Thank you. I would have liked to have gone to the Asylum last year but something got in the way (or probably monies were tight). Unfortunately the Asylum date this year now clashes with a wedding. So it looks like I'm going to have plenty of time to get ready for next years instead.
