Can't quite work out how to get mine uploaded, so found the original image on the internet:

http://www.masterworksartgallery.com/Caillebotte-Gustave/Caillebotte-Gustave-Etude-pour-le-pont-de-l-Europe.html

The pont de l'Europe- steam locomotives, heavy iron girder bridge, some wonderful buildings in the background and a bloke in a top hat... what more could I possibly ask of a desktop image?!?
Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

An airship.

True, but one can't have everything...

My current desktop, not particularly steampunk inasmuch as there are no gears etc... but it has a certain something .

Yes...yes it does...  ;D

This is mine. (I wish I knew who drew it...)

The winamp skin isn't exactly steampunk, but...

Marrock

Well, the figure flying birdback looks like Azrach, a character created by Moebius, but that doesn't look, to me anyway, like his art style.

That is one of the covers of this Graphic Novel anthology:

Gilded Age Records is a collective of like minded Indie artists, all unified by a common 19th Century/Steampunk theme.

That is breathtaking.  Any chance you could post a link or even host it somewhere so we can download?

Marrock

I'd post mine but it'd probably be considered NSFW by a few.

Thank you very much.

There's the link to it, hosted on my photobucket. I got the image from the steampunk board on Megachan.

Marrock

I've been meaning to turn this into a wallpaper at some point, just never got around to it.

That mechanical clock screensave is beautiful, thanks for the link!
Does anyone know where I can get a steampunky clock for my desktop?
J'ai réinventé le passé pour voir la beauté de l'avenir.

My current desktop...

Nice!  Where did you get the icons from?
I'm not sure but I think I got the icons from a link on the forum... ???
If you PM me I'll sent you copies...
The clock is a google desktop widget...
It ticks, bongs and drives everybody in our flat mad (they hate being reminded that time is passing ;D )
The desktop picture was found on the Aether Emporium:
http://etheremporium.pbwiki.com/Steampunk%20Skins
Hope this helps...

Marrock

Actually, that wallpaper is from http://www.steampunkwallpaper.com/ and should be marked as such in the lower right corner, unless someone's being dodgy with someone else's work.

I should have said a link from The Aether Emporium... :-[
Yes it does have the appropriate marking in the corner...
So I recommend and endorse:

If anyone wants them, I've had these forever and take no credit for them whatsoever.

As a by-the-by...
I have the same desktop on my eeePC except for the clock...
I'm running KDE if anyone can recommend a suitable desktop clock I'd be grateful...
I did download a coding for a nixe tube clock but have no idea how to implement it...
Once again any advice gratefully received...

teucer

I've got this great background image of a smashed clock, which I've had for a while (proof that before signing up for a steampunk forum certain steam elements had already begun to invade my life). A while back I redid my desktop theme on windows to a brassy tone to match the colors of the image.

The clock in the bottom right is a Yahoo Widget Engine widget called Gorgy Clock, which I use as my alarm to wake up in the morning. The one in the top right (whose color, sadly, can't be customized to match the rest of the theme) is the greatest Winamp skin ever.
Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash, and I am delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever!

Marrock

Nothing special on mine, just a slightly modified version of the Old Factory theme with a nice geary animated cursor theme.

Though my current wallpaper would definitely be considered NSFW so I'll leave it obscured for the nonce.

Here is my work desktop... not so much steampunk.. but it is a quad monitor at 6064X1024 px

{Some areas blurred to protect confidential data}{Other windows closed.. normally i have 100% of the space used}

Note the live streaming cams from my house.. the bottom one is my fish tank cam.. but the screen cap did not pick it up.
