Well, just found this a couple of hours ago with my trusty "stumble upon" button. I've always been into Cyberpunk/steampunk/weird west stuff, so I decided to sign up.

So, uh, hey.  :P

What ho all!

Thought I'd better post to say hello instead of lurking so much.

Well I'm from the UK, I love steampunk, listen to industrial music and wear goggles on occasion. I hope this meets with your approval.

Andy_W

Well done for unlurking sir.

What Ho, Weetabix!
Just signed aboard myself, so as one new hand to another may I say you'll not find a finer crew aboard any vessel on the Interwebs.
So stow the lurking, adjust your goggles and enjoy the ride.

Welcome to the board, and congratulations on being from the UK.
Of course I would say that as that is where I am from too.

VoldtaEngler

Not sure if this would be the correct section to intro myself, but i couldnt find another place for it.

Anywho, hello from the States! Im 25, been into the steampunk/industrial style ever since I saw Return to Oz. (Come to think of it I think it'll be my next rental on Netflix.  ;D )

I enjoy making industrial steampunky craftworks (which is how i found this site) and run a business selling goggles in various forms(who woulda thunk!)

I have a a full night ahead of me now playing catch up with all these threads now. Take care and hope to hear from you!   8)

Welcome!  Please grace us with a link to your work!  We are all quite fond of the goggles here...  :)  As for catching up, you may be interested to know that the forum hasn't been in existence for a full month yet, so you can see we've been busy.  Again, welcome!

Not seeing any other place for it, here's where I'll introduce myself.

Ahem...

Hi I'm Robin Gibson, AKA Ryan Starflier, professional caterer, artist, game designer, lover of time-travel, cogwheels/sprockets/gears, chemistry, robotics, old video games, sentient bipedal animals, tall ships, airplanes, logic puzzles, eclipses... et cetera. I've been watching Brass Goggles for a while, and decided that I wanted to be a part of this community...

So, hi...

kiskolou

You missed the rollcall thread?

Doesn't matter, good to have you. You'll like it here.

Tallships, you say? Do tell us more!

I'm an avid fan of all things maritime, but particularly the Age of Sail. Have you crewed or sailed as a passenger on any vessels?

No...
No, bit of an armchair adventurer really...

Don't tell anyone, but I've never actually time traveled either...

Wouldn't mind it, deck handing on a tall ship that is... But the closest thing I've ever done to that was rewiring the floating cabins at my uncle's fishing lodge...

kiskolou

Well in the world of steampunk, your tall ship can time-travel!

Yeah, that's what I figure...

I'd prefer a Catalina or an El Camino though...

But I guess niether of them are very steampunk...

Steampunk or no, a time-traveling El Camino sounds brilliant to me. If i may rework a common schoolyard chant...

El Camino! El - El Camino!

The front is like a car
And the back is like a truck!
The front is where you drive
And the back is where you...
...haul things you need to transport through the very fabric of time and space!

El Camino! El - El Camino!

Elwood

Greetings, good to have you Starflier!
I think Alan Alda put it best when he said,
"If I can't get the girl, at least give me more money."

kiskolou

But if the el camino adapts to the time it is in, it would be steampunky during the industrial revolution.

Welcome to the forum Starflier. Is there a particular reason for that name? It reminds me of some of those solar sail space ship designs I've seen.

Starflier

Ryan Starflier came while I was searching for an internet name. Think of all the fictional characters with Nounverber names: Cloudkicker, Skywalker... um Linebacker?

I love those sailships though...

Greetings and salutations!

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, a long time lurker; first time poster.

I've had an interest in steampunk for years and only recently discovered others with a similar interest.

My other interests involve art, film, music, history, 1950s b-grade science fiction, retrofuturism, photography, acting and writing amongst others.
If anyone is interested in seeing some of my art, head on to http://cuha.deviantart.com

Anywho- I hope to see you all on the boards!

cheerio!  :)

Welcome to the wonderful world of the outed.  A pleasure to meet you!
