How do I post a photo?  I have a picture I'd like to add to an existing topic.

Host it on Flickr, Photobucket, etc. (you'll need an account with an image hosting provider) and then embed in your reply with the correct bbcode - most image hosts will generate the code and provide it for you to cut and paste, or there's a button in the reply toolbar that can help generate the code.

Flickr can be a bit fiddly to use as the image host for a first time user, photobucket or Imageshack will be easier.  The easiest way to post the image is to use a direct web link to the image, ie "www .imageshack.com/mypicture" and add the IMG tags

If you copy the link to your post, you can highlight the link with your mouse (like you would for copy / past) and then click the "Insert image" button on the forum tools (the one directly above the first smiley face). If you hover the mouse over the buttons it will tell you what each one does.

Yes, if by that you mean - copy the "www. website address. com / picture" and paste it into the bit were you type the post, then highlight the whole address (left click mouse, drag to select text) and then click the "insert image" icon. 

If you want an image to be hidden beneath a spoiler tag, do the above then select the whole address again (including the IMG tags) then click the "spoiler" icon.

You have to have a host for the image.

A message posted on the forum is a collection of letters/characters only - it can't contain an actual image file, only instructions where the forum software can go find it in order to display it.

Is Facebook the reason so many pictures simply aren't even showing up since the forum went down? I can tell by spacing and the comments of people who did see them that they successfully loaded, at least briefly, but now there's not only no photo but no link.

I'm having the same problem with videos. They're on the page (or were), but unless the external link is showing so I can click off-site none of them are viewable.

It's my impression that the Grimoire of Visages is one of the more difficult sites to use for this. They want you to share everything with them, but they don't want to share anything.

In Firefox right click on the image > copy image location > paste in a reply here, then wrap in image tags.

Only if the Spoiler opens...which is doesn't, for some reason...

Is this another glitch from the outage? In addition to completely random (or so it seems) pictures missing, some spoilers open and others don't.
