My Dads repaired 1940s Roamer watch

Sorry for the photos, my old camera won't do macro now.

Purchased in Africa 1947/50 on National Service with the Royal Engineers. This watch was destined for the bin, has alot of personal memories for me, so I decided to get it serviced and repaired.

Not Steampunk, being more Diesel in period (Mods please move if deemed appropriate)

I do remember seeing a photo taken in the jungle with full KD's but that was years ago, I've e-mailed my brother in the States to see if he has anything. If I can find the photo I plan to make a little stand type effort with that picture in a frame.

The idea was to get it repaired not restored, it is what it is and I want it to stay that way. I actually wondered about the replacement glass but in all honesty the original was so scratched you couldn't really see the face.

The watch guy said nice little 17 jewel movement and has given me a 2 year warranty, so all in all, after the initial deep breath a bout the cost I'm happy with the outcome so far, and it's keeping perfect time.

My Dad had a good memory day (not too good sometimes these days, alzheimer's setting in )

I learned alot about his days in the army.

After some subtle questions, one answer made me smile..........

Q.... What do you remember most (expecting tales of adventure etc,,)

A.... There was alot of shouting 

And I got a fantastic photo of him in uniform from 1947.

I didn't have much interest in an old watch, but I LIKE the stand.  Nicely done.  The whole concept of a steampunk stand for a heirloom piece is a great idea.  Have to remember it for future theft.
