'Cognition' - steampunk art exhibition in Wellington

Capital! Steampunk is pleased to announce an event this coming August.

Artspace Gallery in Petone have invited us to assisit in putting together a three week exhibition of steampunk art.  The title, or theme if you will, is Cognition.  This is intended to convey a number of meanings; first, that some thought has gone into the works; second, to indicate recognition of the artists in our community.  And also, well, you know, cogs ...

The exhibition opens on 6 August and, alongside the artworks, we plan to hold maker workshops.  Some will be for the kids - make your own goggles from plasting milk bottles - and some are intended to appeal more to those with an interest in jewellery or costume.  If any BG members are anywhere near this part of the world in August we'd be delighted to see you.

I've contacted a couple of BG members about entering their work and I'm looking forward to seeing it here, but some of you may know of other artists who would like to take part.  Expressions of interest in theory close at the end of this month, but we have no problem keeping things alive for another week or two.  You don't have to have created your artwork yet, but we do need you to let us know you'd like to be involved.  There's a registration form
