Hervey Bay Historical Village

Last Saturday, I went to this place:

It's amazing how many tiny, out-of-the-way places you've never heard of until you blaze through them while road-tripping somewhere else in Australia, that have rather extensive historical villages. It may be all they have left to offer, but still, you've never heard of these places. Miles? Capella? Comparatively large historical villages, but with nothing to tell you about them.

Hervey Bay is a bit of a trek, but closer to hand is Jindera, where there is a complete shop of the old, pioneer style, fully 'stocked', blacksmith's forge, outbuildings and the like.

Quite a few little hamlets and such are turning into 'museums' by accident, as people just close the doors, lock up and walk away. 500 years from now archaeologists will be excavating Australia's version of the 'abandoned Medieval village'. There will be lots of postholes, and galvanised iron, as most of the buildings are weatherboard, built on stumps, with galvanised iron on the roof. Not to mention the old water tanks!

Just came back from a long road trip. There are significantly more from one end of the state to the other - Monto, Clermont, Gin Gin...

Some of these places only even have a central area, half the size of the historical village!

One thing I also notice is how many of them centre around a railway station.
