Aurora Sci-Fi Pinup Cover by Dave Stevens

The name Dave Stevens is probably well known on this forum; he created The Rocketeer.

I found this comic cover by Stevens that has a non-obvious steampunk appeal on careful analysis.



The crown makes me think of Ozma of Oz and various early 20th century illustrations I've seen. The sidekick character is derived from characters from Windsor McKay's Little Nemo in Slumberland. I can't place the source for the ray gun/spear gun weapon, but it has a John Carter of Mars vibe to it.
