Just wondering if anyone else has watched this gem.
Pirates as you've never seen them before ...
I thought it was hilarious (and the costumes are gorgeous too).

I did catch a couple of episodes. The costumes and back drop are quite resplendent. High camp on the high seas. Quite cleverly done and a different take on the pirate genre.

I think it suffered in NZ as the main actor is frequently on our utility ads and other everyday promotions. It was difficult to relate to him as a pirate. That and we have a high expectation of brutality and degenerate behaviour from our own seafaring historical figures . The show was  too light hearted and upbeat  for kiwi sensibilities
