After discussion on Saturday, it was agreed we'd like to start up the Brass Goggles camp at the Shakespeare's Steam Rally again this summer, so I've looked up the dates, and started to compile them into some sort of order along with other events of interest.

PLEASE ADD YOUR OWN SUGGESTIONS AND IDEAS! There's a world full of interest out there, so if you know of a place or event in the region, do share it with like-minded folk!

Certainly interested in a return to doing a steam fair campout with the splendid Midlands steampunks :)

Aubreay Fallowfield

Had a lovely evening at Bantock House and the manager there approached me, with mayor of Wolverhampton no doubt, and said she would like to do something with the steampunk community. She is leaving it up to us to suggest ideas. They sell sales spaces in their indoor area for £20 per table for sellers. So should anyone want to come up with an idea or two please let me know and I can pass it on.

Also just a thought would anyone consider having a picnic/ promonade around the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, a fine example of Victorian garden architecture?

Next Easter is the fifth anniversary of the inaugral BG West Midlands meet-up... coincidentally it was held at the Botanical Gardens.... it might be nice to have a revisit, around April/ May, weather permitting of course.
Persons intending to travel by open carriage should select a seat with their backs to the engine, by which means they will avoid the ashes emitted therefrom, that in travelling generally, but particularly through the tunnels, prove a great annoyance; the carriage farthest from the engine will in consequence be found the most desirable.

SteamBlast Mary

... actually, June 2013 would've been the fifth anniversary of the first BG West Mids get-together:

If botanical gardens are popular, don't forget about Birmingham's other botanical garden:

More Edwardian than Victorian, but rather lovely. I particularly recommend a visit in bluebell season as it has one of the best bluebell woods in Birmingham.

I read as far as 'Edwardian' and 'Arts and Crafts'- sold!   :D

I like the sound of Winterbourne House and Gardens, surprised i've never heard of it.

Never mind the Cogs

If it wasn't for the last minute, nothing at all would ever get done!

Flightless Phoenix

I've been meaning to visit Winterbourne for ages, so would love to come along.

Sounds good to me, I watched the slideshow and saw the wallpaper. That's do it for me, wallpaper. Mmmm

Winterbourne is nice, I had a team day there a few years ago...

Hi, I am new to all this - but really interested to know what is going on in Worcester? Is there a group in the city or do you just meet for events? (And anyone any clues as to the place to get myself a proper hat!)

milamber

Hi Susannah

Just reading this as we used to live in Worcester and interested in what is going on. Ebay is fab for hats, as long as you accept that they won't always be described or measured correctly. Some real bargains though. Only downside is you build up quite a collection before you settle on what suits you. Think out the box a little. I bought a bowler and my wife laughed, now she has pinched it...........

Who would be up for a BG outing to Winterbourne House and Gardens in April or May?

I'd be interested, dates & weather permitting... Relatively easy to get to for me, as well!

Excellent.  How does the May Day Weekend (May 3rd-5th) sound for everybody?

~Addendum~

I've set up a facebook event for the visit.  I've put in May 3rd as a stopgap, I can change that if it doesn't suit....
