Steampunk in Russia

I'm from Russia. I accidentally got on this forum when I was looking for the manual to solder the lamp on alcohol.

I'm a bit interested in steampunk and if the readers of this forum will be interested, you can prepare a short story about steampunk in Russia.

But just in case, start telling what you know.

In Russia, too, are tweed rides. The most famous of the "5 bridges", tweed bike ride in St. Petersburg.
But such walks are held in other Russian cities.

Welcome to the forum Mr. Morozow.

I maintain several International Steampunk threads, including one for Japan one for Mexico and I had the pleasure of participation in the seminal forum during the inception of Steampunk in Mexico whilke I was already ay Brassgoggles (and residing in the US). By the time the Mexican and Japanese movements started we already knew of the Russian Steampunks, but there was very little communication between the Russian and Eastern European movements and the West.  Also, I might add we have at least one other active Russian Steampunk member in Brassgoggles.

I want to clarify. I myself am not an active member of the steampunk community.

I have an Internet Billboard, which I gather the announcements are different, strange, fun events. Steampunk is one of those that I think are interesting. And I'm trying to bring to steampunk events interest many people.

I love old things. And some collect them. Bought a small brass blowtorch running on alcohol. Looking for the manual to her and got on one of the discussions on this forum  .

Steam-punk Wargaming "Victorium". Was presented in 2012. Sorry, but currently project is closed.

The game has three sides: the Russian Empire, a Coalition of European Countries and the Asian Union.

In the battles involve small groups of characters, each belonging to one of the factions, has its own history, miniature and unique skills.

For example the description of three Russian fighters:



Melee fighter in the unit of the Russian Empire — General Boris Radonezhsky. The main weapon of the General personal right is a sword specially made for his mechanical prosthesis. This is a strong and agile character, which is better to stay away. But you need to beware not only of the saber — flamethrower built skilled technicians to hand, will take out any opponent and it is impossible to defend. The build is impressive and will allow to break the line of attack, sudden spurt forward and to disperse the attackers.

Distance under control of a spy Ivolgin. His gun will deter the onslaught of your opponents, not giving them a chance to attack you, grouped. If the spy will be forced to use stimulants, which are used in the Chinese treatise on herbs and their effects, the effectiveness of the gun will increase significantly, which will increase the advantage. Also, in his bag there are a couple of surprises for the characters who like to attack the crowd. The grenade can cause damage to all who had the temerity to stand too close, and the magnetic bombs significantly spoil the life of mechanized units, creating destructive to sensitive parts of the electromagnetic field.

Last but not least for the detachment, the doctor dies, a surgeon of field. While retaining combat capability, he can treat the wounded and revive allies in a state of clinical death. The scope of its offensive activity is a negative influence. Through all the pain points alone accurate punches, he will spare their opponents from happiness to feeling healthy and bleeding wounds from his blade and gas poisoning, pretty to spoil anybody's life.

Russia has a most engaging history around the turn of the century! There is so MUCH going on that the palette from which you can draw is as deep as any other nation may lay claim too. The emancipation of surfs in the 1860 right the way through to rapid industrialisation in the 80-90's. Russia is a hotbed of radical thinking and untested ideas.

There has been a lot of emphasis on the path this lead too and the negative aspects of it. It could have gone many ways at the time, some ways may have been better than others and (if I maybe so bold as to say) one or two may have lead to a better reality than the one that ultimately resulted.

That can be said for any nation. Especially England..... Anyway is that not an essence of steampunk? Take the good and leave the bad? Whatever your will dictates the bad to be?

In examining our past we forge a path to a better future, sir.

And on a less "heavy" note your all looking fantastically dappa.

I myself like these miniatures, I love these things.

As I wrote, unfortunately, the game project is closed. I hope that's temporary.

But miniatures are still sold in several stores.

Thank you for the high appreciation of Russian history. Yes, the 19th century in the history of Russia was filled with events worthy of the pen of a novelist. Suffice it to recall the "Great Game" that Russia remembers only specialists.

We have features. In the perception of people, the 19th century was overshadowed by the events of the 20th century. This is our October revolution, our Civil war is the Great Patriotic War. Well, even Soviet discourse, which is largely based on the denial of the achievements of the Russian Empire.

It seems to me that to some extent, analogous to Victorian times to serve the Revolution and the Civil war. Someday, I'll try to write about this in more detail.

Then I was reminded. The rector of one of our UNIVERSITY, interested in the history of our civil war, namely the White movement (it's not racists, then there was a division into "red" and "white", were still "green" and "black").

And students from this Institute make military uniforms and costumes based on.

I figured that steampunk in Kamchatka. There are people are fond of them. But how is comunite, it is not yet know.

In St. Petersburg, at the Bolshoi drama theatre. G. A. Tovstonogov, directed a play based on the novel by F. M. Dostoevsky "the gambler". It's a common thing.
